Why use a US SIM card?
Is it to target a US audience or trick TikTok into thinking you're American?

Why wouldn't using a proxy alone be enough?
For example, if you downloaded the TikTok app from the App Store using your home Wi-Fi without a proxy, does TikTok have the ability to detect that you're not in the US and potentially shadowban your account?

I tried this on one account and successfully targeted a US audience, but I'm unsure if my account is shadowbanned.

Can anyone provide insights into this?

TikTok (like many apps) can detect your mobile network location based on the SIM card you use, simple.
If the SIM card says you're in the USA, but the IP shows another location, TikTok MAYBE able to detect this and flag your account for suspicious behavior.

What if I don't have a SIM card at all, only a proxy?
The question is: does TikTok have any way of knowing who downloaded the app from the App Store? I want to believe that Apple doesn’t share this information, and that TikTok only tracks the SIM during the app's usage, not who originally downloaded it.

Using a U.S. SIM card often helps create the impression that you are physically located in the U.S., which can enhance TikTok's trust in your account. A proxy may not be enough, as TikTok might track other data, such as your IP address during app download or account setup. If your content targets the U.S. and receives engagement, it’s unlikely that your account is shadow-banned, but for full confidence, it’s essential to maintain consistent behavior (SIM, proxy, IP).

When you download TikTok from the App Store, Apple doesn’t disclose where you downloaded it from or the device’s original location at that time.

I also don't use US Sim and have no problem the view is still up and I only have proxy with wifi

People are exaggerating on TikTok security. It's a lot easier than Instagram. Probably even easier than YouTube.

Using a US SIM card can be beneficial for TikTok because it helps mimic the behavior of a US user, making your account appear as if it’s genuinely targeting a US audience. A proxy alone may not be enough because TikTok can track things like your device's location and SIM card details. If you downloaded the app without a US IP or SIM, TikTok might flag it, especially if other location signals don’t align. To be safe, ensure all your signals match, like IP, SIM, and app store region, to avoid triggering suspicious behavior.

There are three different perspectives on this topic:
Are you assuming that Apple doesn’t share the user’s location or IP address when downloading apps? If so, does that mean TikTok has no way of knowing who downloaded it?

TikTok does have mechanisms to detect and restrict accounts. Things like a significant decrease in likes, comments, and views on your videos.

To avoid detection and optimize your targeting, you need to use both a proxy and a SIM card that matches the country you want to target. However, constantly changing these elements without being consistent can make TikTok suspicious and potentially lead to a shadow ban . Make sure you follow TikTok's guidelines to avoid jeopardizing your account

Using a mobile proxy with a US sim would help with tiktok seeing you as a person living in the US and show you US content as well.

Using a US SIM card helps reinforce your location as being in the US, which can make your targeting appear more authentic to TikTok. A proxy alone might not be enough because TikTok can detect other data, such as your device’s SIM region, app store location, and initial IP when the app was downloaded. If you downloaded TikTok without a proxy, it’s possible TikTok identified your real location, which could affect your account's reach.

A US SIM helps because TikTok checks multiple factors, not just IP. A proxy alone may not be enough if your device history shows a different region. If you're reaching a US audience, your account is likely fine, but check engagement to be sure.

A U.S. SIM card is useful for:

✅ Travelers – Avoid roaming fees, get local data & calls.
✅ Business & Verification – Access U.S. services, receive OTPs.
✅ Better Network & Plans – Use U.S. carriers for strong coverage.
