Many users here in this forum use Skype for DMs and contacting. Why? I thought Skype is a little bit outdated!? Anything to do with privacy?

Skype is easy and convenient to use, have used it for years with zero issues.

Skype is a classic. It's simple and does only what you need without any extra bullshit.

Plus it's been around since many of us got started, so we just stick with it.

Because we are old generation that used Skype when it was not "outdated" and we continued till today

Why not? I mean, Skype has been around for ages. Others were just not as popular aside from fb msgr.

Skype is used because mostly noobs here and noobs use Skype - people commenting here about privacy lol, Skype saves every conversation forever.

I don't really like Skype, but I use it only for work, to communicate with those people who only use Skype.

I can't get telegram to work. I've tried 2 different sims. I don't need a phone or sim to install Skype, I can even install it on Linux. I can make multiple accounts easily.

As for privacy/encryption, I don't trust any of the services.

It probably has to do with the fact that when it became popular, everyone was using it, so they just kept using it. Something similar to Paypal, it is not the best, but everyone has an account on there.
