Why should i use an VPS

hi Guys,

I have a Server with VMware and a VPN at home but still not sure if this is secure... ;)

i m new and i wonder why u all using a VPS? is there any Hosting that u prefer?

It pretty much saves money on the electricity bills. I'm actually thinking of ditching my VPS to just set up a secondary computer at home.
 
If you are asking that question then you probably don't need it.

Do you run or need to run tools 24/7?

If yes then get a VPS.

Or are you asking this with regards to hosting sites?
 
ok i will use some 24/7 tools in the future i think.... so which is the best vps service?
 
If you choose good VPS provider then you will be more secure than now... :) But also it depends on what for u are using it ...
 
VPS can feed 2 main different purposes :

1) Windows VPS allows you to benefit from a remote computer online 24/7 with a very fast internet connection. It is great for any kind of automation.

2) Linux VPS are best when it comes to web hosting. You have dedicated ressources based on a network with generally an excellent peering to serve your websites throughout the world.

Finally, when you get a VPS, you would be set on a very qualitative hardware at a fraction of the cost that you wouldn't be able to afford more likely on your own. Of course, you have also redundancy in power, network, hard drives and so on, which is hardly achievable at home.
 
I believe that the Fast Backbone is really one of the main argument Pro-VPS or VDS. It is true that a lot of broadband providers are increasing the speed that they deliver in your home, but you will still always lack the symmetrical aspect. Guess what? Yes, they currently are very particular about the upload. The electricity argument is a valid one as well. The counterpart to this argument would be the fact that as technology evolves from a hardware perspective. High-Performance and Low-Voltage solutions are the current trend.
 
I use VPS in windows and linux flavors for SEO tools and hosting, the VPS are provided by DotVPS and they are quick, reliable and local to me.

My VPS are there for 24hr programs to run and also for stats collections to run on hourly schedules.

The question you should be asking is
why not use a VPS?
 
A vps is is good for running 24/7 marketing campaigns with bots
 
I'm guessing a VPS would be recommended for someone who planned to travel a lot? Like to keep a secure base for operations. What would best practice be for logging into a paypal account moving around different countries, Have a proxy for your home country on your VPS?
 
Basically, you can run your applications 24/7 and not have to worry about internet issues, electricity, or any other issues you typically would have with using your home computer. You can access your server from anywhere in the world and work remotely, this comes in handy when you want to check your latest SEO campaigns running on your server from your smartphone! ;)

A VPS is a good sandbox to run free tools or download new software to test it without harming your computer.
