Why should I buy a VPS?

I'm lucky enough to have uncapped acces to my universities network. 120 MBbit/s is pretty cool. But since the internet in my country is pretty fast on average I have no issues scraping from home either. It just really depends on what you're working with and if its sufficient for what you intent to use it with.

#1 Faster Bandwidth = Running more threads in your programs
#2 It's on 24/7/365 and you don't have to pay for power like you would with your home computer
#3 All of your programs and documents are still the same way you left them when you disconnect from your VPS

Hope that helps!

for vps check xsserver.eu, they have cheap good plans. VPS or dedi is a must when you have lots of tools, they can work when you are not at home 24h a day so you can focus on other tasks, also vps/dedis have better connections that you probably have a t home

This is a big reason, but you really should have strong AV / security on your machine regardless.

Another thing, tools like SENuke use IE settings for proxies, so if your running a SENuke job in the background, you could be changing IP's every few minutes which can get annoying when using services that don't work well with that.

Some of these tools can really use a lot of cpu when you are running jobs, for example running AMR with 100 threads.

I have other machines setup that are dedicated to it. I am not a big fan of VPS for this type of thing, but if you don't have the hardware/bandwidth, it is the best option. I have my own data center locally, so I can just drop hardware there in a rack I am already paying for anyway. I also have a 30mbit/30mbit Internet connection here, so I have a few boxes here.

Right now im using avast paid version. Anyone think they have something better?
