Why Shopify is trending?

Many people use WooCommerce, Shopify just advertises heavier and is easier for noobs.

What I like about WooCommerce is you can always change hosting if you don't like it. Software itself is free and nobody can ban you from using it. Shopify however, can theoretically dictate it's conditions to clients.

Shopify basically is for the noobs who don't know coding at all.

Woocommerce is Android, while Shopify is iOS. Get the drift .. ;-)

You know you can migrate anytime.. right?

1. Shopify costs me 29USD a month and makes is no brainer. Everything is top quality from apps to backend to security.

2. WordPress - 1000 things needs to cared for - Securty being the biggest one, then plugins, then hosting cost and yeah any decent plugin needed for serious business on WP would also cost money.

Shopify is a great place to start, once you make money and afford professional help - move it to worpdress - shopify has a very simple structure, that would fit right into wordpress or any other standard ecom CMS.

Cause they are spending so much for campaigning their site unlike woocommerce.

I also use shopify. Really very good. There are many shopify apps to use, Such as inventory management, order sync, shipping and so on. I am using the order fulfillment App called ChinaDivision Shopify fulfillment app which is free. They are efficient and easy to sync my order to ChinaDivision , so that they can pick pack and shipping my orders from to all over the world.

When your business us bigger, you can change to another e-commerce shopping cart.

And when you create a webstore on wocommerce - you're becoming a full owner (and can sell there anything you want, no rules )

Shopify cost $29,- a month, plus $19 oberloo, +$10 for a widget per month +$15 for this and that a month etc etc *Catch my drift?

WP doesn't need 1000 things to be cared for, security is mostly handled by your host and to secure your WP even more there are plenty of free plugins that do that.

Shopify is basically a copy from WP, I don't get how people all say it's easier, the back-end is for the most part exactly the same! When I had shopify the themes were already expensive but I looked recently and the prices have skyrocketed beyond craziness so what do you get, thousands of noobs who take the free or cheapest theme that have the same pre-made logo's, layout, colors everything and fail hard.

I have themes that I can use on unlimited websites that all work with Woo. Got bunch of plugins that do all that shopify plugins can do and they are free.

All my themes come with a easy theme options menu so you can change layout, colors etc really fast without coding.

Shopify makes most of their money from noobs and they know that and it's those noobs who are easily influenced because they are hyping drop-shipping and spending shitload of money marketing it.

The only thing that they have a + on is their support, that is topnotch which is hard needed

For me Shopify is not easy.WP is easiest for me. I guess it depends. No Shopify doesn't promote your store. But theres some addons which offer some advertising services plus they have market place.

Because shopify spend an enormous amount of dollar on advertising?

Why do people use most things? Because they SEE it, other people see it, other people use it and then all other people follow.

Simple human follower mentality.

Easier for noobs is to order ready store, isn't it?

If I had to choose only between the 2, I also would choose shopify as it's build for shopping and not in it's base glued on a blogging system.

There are reasons why there are full featured shopsystems for selfhosting. One reason is the old *nix paradigm, "do one thing, but do it right".
