Many people chase big numbers of reviews, but Google seems to value velocity (how quickly and steadily reviews come in). A business that gets 30 reviews in one week and then nothing often looks suspicious. Meanwhile, one that gets 3–4 new reviews every week appears authentic and builds lasting ranking power.
I tested this with a local gym. Instead of asking all clients at once, we spread out the requests – 5 reviews in week 1, then 2–3 weekly after that. The profile grew steadily and reached top 3 in 2 months. Slow and steady really wins here.
