this is a tip, any site that has a good amount of direct traffic will rank better and faster. That's valid for new created sites and the traffic must be natural, no tricks.

Define direct traffic. In most cases direct traffic would be someone directly opening your domain, that is not possible with new websites. You can manage to get a few clicks from friends.
I'm not sure if you're counting social or referral traffic as direct traffic.

Everybody knows that if you have direct traffic it means your communication is good to be top of mind and you have a good customer retention due to creating valuable relationship with your prospects.
But you will not get direct traffic for a new site, highly unlikely as you need a customer acquisition process which is strong in the first place.

I guess there would be a linear relationship, although whether it's a top priority and the magnitude of the impact on rankings are the real questions here. There are lots of intracspecfici variables to consider to the matter ahnd too. But I imagine there maybe many more, more important considerations and rank factors.

It will be VERY hard for a new site to develop direct traffic as it will require some "branding" on their part.
Also, define what do you mean by "good amount"?

You are correct. In fact, Google has a patent for it, I read and tested this last year. It worked. But it's capital intensive.
Could you possibly share a link to this? They've got like a bajillion patents.

I haven't done that but it's a great idea, I will take my fish costume and go outside to advertise my site.

There was a case study kicking around a while ago about traffic and ranking but I can't remember who it was.
I wouldn't be so concerned about the idea of direct traffic since nobody really types in URLs since navigational searches are earlier anyway but there is some potential to the idea of traffic ranking a site faster.
Google owns the biggest browser and I think Android owns the market share IIRC so if you're getting a ton of traffic from social media (for example) it's not like Google can't potentially see that.
It's a tricky one though as sites with traffic from other sources are more likely to also have attracted organic links and they're getting traffic because they have some level of quality but the case study made a good argument for it and there's some logic to it.

In the ideal case, yes. But it's hard to get a high amount of direct traffic when you are a beginner and don't have that kind of reputation and recognition. So, I would say that can be the ultimate goal, but every traffic is a good one when it comes to improving ranking, in fact, in the beginning, most of it will come through referral sources.

Its true. I ranked several websites only by sending direct traffic from my mobile apps (and doing webviews). It seems like the more external traffic a website gets the higher is its authority and the higher is the chance to get organic traffic and rank on Google.
