why people avoid chinese links?

because google says that they are bad links and we all have to blindly obey our lord and savior, google.

Although... truth being told, I'm not fully against this particular rule to be honest. Everyone on this forum that has seen my posts before knows that I'm a passionate google hater and I want this mafia company gone from our lives, but... where credit is due you must give it. And regarding chinese (well, asian in general) links to non-asian sites I think that it does look spammy... or weird anyway...

Maybe because google is banned in China ?
And google crawlers cannot see that links (if sites are hosted in China).

Because what you want are links in the same niche, from the same country, in the same language. If I have a german website, I want links from german websites with german content, otherwise the effect won't be that great. English might be okay as well (simply because Google is from the US) but you can be sure that if I have a german website and I receive links from Sweden, Turkey, Korea or Japan then Google won't consider them as "relevant" to my content or website

Can you cite any link from google , google community , or google blog
I could, but I'm too lazy. Just search the forum for keywords like "expired domain" and you will find some threads that mention this very thing.

A few years ago I've also purchased 4 domain names, 3 of which have had asian backlinks and I haven't managed to rank any of them. Now, I will admit that I didn't stress too much about it, I just slammed some content on those domains and waited... and waited... and waited... nothing happened so I dropped them. Had I built backlinks to those domains I could have ranked them, but why bother? I always want the best results with the least amount of work, so...

This is valid point and good logic. But, other concepts look like myth. One reason can be they are spammed, use spam scripts that aren't user friendly.

because these are spammed to hell.
But I am not saying they don't have quality domains but most of them are spammed to death I think. I have seen a lot of forums with spammed threads to death with Chinese content

The Chinese and Japanese links are used by link farms for churn & burn projects. So, they are often associated with adult, casino, pharma, torrent etc. sites. This is the reason most people avoid them as they give a bad impression to link profile. You'll also have difficulty in selling the site as most people consider it as an abused domain.

There can be few factors, unknown sites, language bearer, Why would you click on link when you don't understand what is said?

niche means you want some language links. So if your site is in Chinese. then only chinese links are good. otherwise it is waste of time. Google is now smart.

Well, If I had a backlink from Sohu I would surely not avoid it.

This is too generalistic question

Obviously a chinese page with a HUGE OBL ratio shall be avoided as a european or american similar site.

If you own a Chinese site, it would make sense.
But for English sites, it's a red flag.

I am thinking in terms of black hat. I can get good tiwanese, japanese , korean, thai , arabic links so why I should or should I avoid less spammy Chinese links.

Language can be the problem, in that case they can be good for T2. If have low spam score, good DA, TF.

Just use them on tier3-4 links, and enjoy.

My Observation, Long Story in short,
Most chinese use there own search engine, same with russian.
And it seems there search engine system is not powerful like google, they still give heavy weight to links.
so most webmaster from those country spam to death for backlinks. That why we see lots of expired domains grab by those webmaster get thousands of links. they believe in churn and burn. because its easy to build thousands of links with help of tools. Even no body can get an idea when they spam there money site too. so suppose you get a quality link from those sites, and after a week, they spam there site. because of this nature, most old webmaster ignore them.
My personal view from those links is that there may be no benefit we build manual links where we have to put lot of efforts to gain link, that not worth. But if you can get links from those sites with any tools, then we should definately go with it and use those links in tier link building. Note down that i also highly recommend to not use them directly on money site.

I target english-speaking countries with a website that is based on english and content that is relevant in the us uk au nz ca, i get chinese visitors but they are pointless as they won't convert. The word is: targeted audience.

Agreed, link ratio of Chinese websites should be less. More the niche specific link more you have authority.
