Why not use forum link as PBN link ?

Hi,

Today I was making some profile and forum link to my website and I was wondering... why not build Tiers 2 links to a forum link ?

I mean, if the forum is relevant and the link is a do-follow link. Why not build link to the forum page where the link is ? I mean, if the forum got great metrics etc, would not it be simpler to build links to it rather than spending time to create PBN etc ?

Because they are completely different things.
Just because I put a Mercedes emblem on my AMC Gremlin, doesn't make it a Benz.
