Why need to wait 1-2-3 hours to get results ?

Hi to all
i just made a 15 mo xml page and ping it
in arround 85 search engines.
Why do you need to wait so long time arrouns 1-2-3 hours or sometine 2 day to get results (imagine free hosting see you use 250 mo only send xml) they close you and at the end you get no resutls
or so small


why need so long time like that in Internet World ??
