Why my site dropped to page 48?

Hi masters. I am newbie here. I think I was doing white hat. I didn't spam. I did backlink building slowly. I did Angela style. I also use identi.ca to get backlink (but now I was deleted). My site was on page 1 on 1-5 position in SERP. But now for several days my site dropped to page 48, 8th position (google.com). I had stopped looking for Backlink cuz I think I was good in SERP. Please suggest me. What am I supposed to do to get my site back to page 1. Thanks.

It sounds like a google penalty. Try doing a google search for yourdomain.com by just typing yourdomain without the .com. If your site is no.#1 or any where on the first page then you are fine but if you still coming up around page 4-5 then you definitely have a penalty.

I search my domain without TLD. I find it on first page 4th position. So do you think Google penalize me? Or is it Google dance. my domain is about 3-4 months.

I am having similar problems too. I was on the first page for a while and then dropped off to page 7 and have been there for about 5 days now. I thought it was Google dance too but since it has taken 5 days already, I think it is a penalty as Google dance usually lasts only a day or two (from my experience), if people have different opinions, please let us know.
 
Something not many people mention when sites drop suddenly but your host might have been down briefly when Google bot came for a visit.

I had a site that was right as rain in every way and went to 47th. I was at a loss and then while I was checking something else I noticed my site had been down for an hour or so about the same time as Google bots visit.

I just waited it out and my site came back stronger than before and now seems locked at #1.

All the other things mentioned are possibilities too and this is just one more rabbit hole I suppose.
 
Highly doubt that it's a penalty. It's just a google dance, which you will find common with new sites. Just keep on building links and it will come back soon.

If your server was down when google came for a visit you can drop severely. Has happened to me before and was the last thing you'd look for.
Sites always recover if this was the reason.
 
Ok let's wait for the next several days. and let's bulid quality backlink.
 
It's been 2 weeks since my site dropped to page 48th. Now its in page 1 @ 4th position. So it's just Google Dance. Thanks BHW.

no, don't stop getting backlinks.. or you will lose by your competitors

it only google dance. be patience..
