Hi

Does anyone have any ideas why my google traffic dropped to virtually nothing a few months ago. I have done the following

June last year I purchased a domain name from godaddy auctions, the domain name was

-10 years old
-has never been dropped
-PR3
-Clean backlink profile, Only high PR relevant non spammy links

I then installed wordpress on this domain and wrote 30 x top quality articles (All 1000-1500 words long) The articles were ranking with no SEO work done at all. I have done no link building at all.

In January I can see in google webmaster tools that there was a update and all of a sudden my traffic from google has disapeared? Any ideas why ? None of my keywords are in the top 100 results ? I cant see any changes in my site and I have done 0 link building so im confused why traffic has disapeared? Even after 2 months the traffic has not come back

Any ideas?

Check onpage seo
Check your backlinks - did they got deleted?

Onpage SEO is good, Keyword density is less than 1%

No backlinks have been deleted as I have not created any

Maybe someone has neg seo your site? Check your backlinks.

According to my experience

If you will not update your site in certain frame of time then google will penalize them not in all categories but specially Tech,Informational sites because your competitors are keep growing content ! Moreover You need some more quality backlinks its all about time and effort !

Maybe it was penalized for historical links that are bad in Google's opinion.

This might of happened if you changed your sites titles or descriptions multiple times , did you ?

Check for link loss, as you have only old backlinks.this could be a possible source to the problem.

you could have been sand boxed or mayby an update hit you. Check https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&sqi=2&ved=0CE0QFjAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsandbox.google.com%2Fcheckout&ei=qoMhU_DvJOLm7AbRv4Ew&usg=AFQjCNH8Bh1fI4hvbL_Oj79H-z5xnZGJyA&sig2=oc45YdGntOp7uNA_z448WQ&bvm=bv.62922401,d.bGQ

The problem might be with your backlink profile. Conduct a link audit and get some high quality backlinks.

Thanks for the updates guys. All keywords site wide have taken a hit.

I cant see any evidence of neg SEO

sites titles or descriptions have not changed

no link lose that I can see

I have only posted 2 articles in the last 3 months. I will post more to see if this has an affect.

Did you recreate or redirect the existing backlinks to point to your new pages?

If not then those are now dead links that are hurting your SEO.

Assuming your content is good (in Gs eyes) and your on-page is solid, then some of the incoming links must have been deleted.

This happened to me recently with one of my expired domains, lost a link from a PR6 .gov, dropped from #6 to #22.

Big G is now giving more importance to social links and as they are becoming more important it is possible that you don't have a great mix ie social and +1 ,and no fresher links and as a result newer and fresher sites with plenty of link building and new fresher and contniuus content has gone up ahead of you! Just my thinking for what it's worth!
