Hey guys,
I’ve noticed one common thing with a lot of beginners in SEO they jump straight into backlinks, tools, or buying services without first building a solid foundation. Honestly, that’s the biggest mistake.

I’ve noticed one common thing with a lot of beginners in SEO they jump straight into backlinks, tools, or buying services without first building a solid foundation. Honestly, that’s the biggest mistake.
Here are a few points from my experience:
- Ignoring the Basics (On-Page SEO)
Most people underestimate how powerful proper on-page optimization is. Title tags, internal linking, site speed, and topical clusters can already push your site up without a single backlink in some niches. - Chasing Shortcuts
I get it – everyone wants fast results. But relying only on spammy link blasts or “tricks” without a strategy often leads to short-term gains and long-term crashes (Google updates hit hard). - Not Understanding the Niche
SEO isn’t one-size-fits-all. A local plumbing site, an affiliate blog, and a SaaS product all need completely different approaches. Researching the niche deeply before building links or content is crucial. - Overlooking EEAT Signals
In 2025, Google clearly values trust and authority. Things like a real author bio, consistent branding, and showing expertise in your content can give you a serious edge.
My Personal Tip:
If I had to start fresh today, I would first:
- Build a small content cluster (5–10 high-quality posts on one topic).
- Make sure the site speed is decent (<2.5s).
- Add trust signals (about page, contact page, author bio).
- THEN start thinking about backlinks.
