Huge authority, large large traffic, yet it still asks for donation. Really want to know whether they have really conidered monetizing it with display ads lol.

Like they dont have to slap many ads on a single page, single ad on a page would be enough for them to earn substantially.

And also readers wont mind such ads. Ssly.

its really a wonder, why beg when you can earn so much more.
well i guess, its in their request only, as it reads "first time we've interupted your reading" so i guess thats the reason, they dont want to interupt readers experience. But when we look at the full request it sounds like they are on the verge of going bankrupt, and very pitiful lol. So better to slap ads, if donations have'nt worked.

Nah, let them burn. I wanted to add a link to my name at some point and they thought I don't deserve a n0follow link from their website. Die. Let others come and be more understanding.

so if its free thats great, if its paid let em burn..... typical freebee hunter

Annoying and distracting. Readers come to us for encyclopedic information, not for ads. Ads have to be processed by the brain (if only subconsciously) and therefore distract and annoy. "The free encyclopedia" also means: free from distractions and annoyances. Also, Wikipedia's limited color palette will be demoted by the 'gaudy' ads.

Your begging is just as annoying though

Imagine if you're reading an article about erectile dysfunction and you're suddenly shown an ad about Viagra.

Sure as hell Wikipedia doesn't want that to happen.

I think it's a matter of time until they will add ads. It's too much traffic not to be monetized somehow imo

I think I love the idea of not running ads.

Not everything should be monitized and also, it will affect the user experience when reading through.

I give them kudos and will definitely be donating to them in the future.
