Why is this page ranking so well?

Hi folks,

Was looking for suggestions as to why this page is doing so well for the term "electricians tools" (UK results). It's hovering around position 1 - 2. There doesn't seem to be anything that I can see that would indicate it should be doing so well. The only thing they have that my page doesn't have in terms of optimisations is a questionable backlink. This specific page is also beating much bigger players in this industry for this specific product category.

so no particular surprise that it ranks #1 for some keywords.

So it's most likely based on the overal domain strength instead of anything on the page level? Looking at other positions, for example its.co.uk (probably the biggest player in this industry in the UK) in position 6 is showing 4k reffering domains in SEMRush, with similar "authority score".

Any suggestions off the top of your head for what to look for when analysing result pages like these where there isn't a massive gap between the strength of competing domains/ pages?

along with these they have used quality and diversified content and they have shown variations in the Keyword that is also a reason for them to rank on the top.

When you refer to content are you talking about their product descriptions, category pages or the blog? I wouldn't really say anything stands out in terms of their descriptions or blog content compared to other similar-sized companies in this space from what I've seen. The power tool industry doesn't lend itself to the most exciting content either, there's only so many times we can discuss the torque levels of a circular saw .

The site might have strong domain authority, even if that page's backlink profile doesn't stand out. Also, their on-page SEO spot on for user intent, with content that precisely matches what 'electricians tools' searchers want.

Agreed. THey did a great job understanding the intent and matching it with their UX. I see so many over at Reddit complaining. "My shoe website isn't ranking" then you go look at their site and its a buncha blog articles on shoes. "I can't understand why!" LMAOOOOOO
