I just noticed that most reputed cpanel hosts have become sort of expensive.

Till a year ago, they all had monthly payment options. But now most of them have moved to annual or 6month subscriptions. And there are very few left with monthly payment option.

    why is that so

Is it because of the Endurance group ?
or is it because these hosts have allied with google to stop pbns ?

Monthly fee isn't profitable for any hosting company.
Let say, You have build a website and bought 1 year hosting.
You will never think to jump from your host within this time. If you don't find any worst fault you will stick with them.
After 1 year you will see that your site build so much. You will just update your hosting package from the same host. You will never think to left them to avoid any hassles. Host transfer has some hassles if you have lack knowledge about it.

So, yearly hosting(with 1st yr huge discount) means they are binding their customer for long term.

Expensive is a relative term, so I'm not about to discuss pricing, but for sure, if anyone want's to have at least decent quality hosting it can't be expected at $1/pm as it is just not realistic. It all depends what hosting is needed for. There is really endless ways that we can discuss this and sure $1 hosting has it's uses. I didn't know some things years ago, but over time we all learn new things and I've learned that quality hosting has various challenges that are needed to maintain quality. I could mention just a few, there are hardware related costs, software related costs, networking, location, maintenance, backups as well as support (human power) that is the most important part IMO when it comes to hosting. This comes without even mentioning of advertising in hosting industry.

Anyway, it's not any sort of hidden alliance or EIG thingy for sure. And there are dozens of hosting companies that I know offering monthly payment cycles.
