Is this normal to "Dance" for an entire month? Interestingly I never seem to go past a certain level only back to 15th +/-

I hav'nt done a crazy amount of link building to this page recently but have purchased a couple of links but it's way too soon to see any effect of them, just wondering if I can do anything to calm this down or nudge it whilst it's trying to make it's mind up?

There's pretty much nothing you can do about it.

Some SEOs suggest doing things playing around with titles, metadata fields and schema etc during the dance based on data from search console but I am more of a data guy and I've never seen such "optimisations" generate any reproducible results.

So there's that. Let google juggle your site. Meanwhile I recommend that you build traffic from social sites like Facebook or Pinterest

Thanks for the feedback, I have purchased some packs here on BHW in the hopes of securing a decent foundation of backlinks to the site, given the last few years have been natural and organic.

Yes build traffic from social sites but organically not ads because Google will get used to the ad traffic and then it will rank the site lower when such traffic stops.

Pardon my ignorance chaps but do you guys have any recommendations of any tired and tested marketplace gigs that might be worth taking a look at?
It's a bit of a minefield to navigate without truly knowing what would work for me social link wise.

I think to calm these down You need some Niche backlinks that are indexed.

In my opinion, your best set of foundational tier 1 backlinks are either built manually or are guest posts/niche edits.

So, you'd build the tier one links manually and buy a package from the marketplace and send those towards the links you manually built.

Researching what makes a good tier 1 for your specific site takes some time (initially because you've never done it before).

They to build para sites around it and blast with tier 2. You can use gsa ser for that. I would blast away with forums and articles.

Or if you know the link you purchased just run a lower tiers campaign. This works most of the time for keywords stuck on top 20. I never had much experience with google dancing. May be my keywords are easy enough to go

maybe you can keep an eye on your competitors to understand what they are doing and how it might be affecting your rankings. try to track your rankings for specific keywords to understand which terms are fluctuating the most and why. i hope it helps.

As others have mentioned, some high quality backlinks to the page should help to stabilise it. However, what's the value of the products that you're promoting on the page? You need to factor that in before spending a significant sum of money on the links.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm not really constricted by budget. But deciding on which pack to buy is the hard part, for the keyword we've got some stiff competition, however, the site was moved from a Magento to Shopify so were also at the mercy of a platform change and also the march update and since then we've hit turbulent times. Has anyone got any recommended gigs to try.

You answered yourself.
Google don't care about 3rd page onwards. Most of it's resources are used for page 1 and some on page 2.
To stop the dance you need to hit the top 3.
Focus on top 10 ranking specially top 3 as most of the traffic goes to top 3 and not worry about anything beyond 20.
