Why is m computer trying to read another computer's files?

My laptop is trying to access files on my flatmates laptop. I have Windows 7 and he has XP so we can't be on a home group. I have also run a virus scan and nothing.

Do any of you guys know what it could be? It's a bit uncomfortable.

How do you know it's doing this? What files is it trying to access?

Probably a virus trying to infect people on the same network

What phatzila said - either that, or remote desktop or a keylogger is installed without your knowledge. I'd recommend running comodo cleaning essentials - its free.
