Why is it so difficult to get a job in upwork???

I've a lot of issues getting jobs on Upwork too, despite having 1k earned, 90% feedbacks and 100+ hours, it's too saturated.

offer them to do the job for free and you only care about reviews now they will give you a positive review and then start asking for money once you profile looks legit with reviews

An inexperienced Up-worker might say that it's because of not having work history, having too much competition, the overflow of freelancers who do cheap work and the list goes on. None of those things are really the problem.

I get a lot of jobs on UpWork .

When I apply I write a super targeted cover letter that convinces the client to interview me.

Also whenever I can I try and get them on the phone that will always close the deal with me .

I also look through the job feed and make sure I see all the jobs available normally over 50,000 jobs .

I pay for plus membership to get a lot of connects and apply to whatever job I believe I can do .

I think you have to take some cheaper jobs to build a solid reputation.

I've done odd jobs on upwork in the past and my portfolio and experience are not that great. I found that clients want you to solve their problem/need. It's all about the proposal and how you come across to the client, try not to make it all about you. I know that sounds a little harsh but everyone does it. Hire me I have have xyz years of experience at, I studied at blah blah and so on.

Sometimes that's all the client see on 100's of proposals, you need to target your proposal to the client. Tell them why they should hire you, how your going to solve their problem and ask questions so they know what your talking about. It can make the client think alright this guy is asking me questions he must know what he's on about.

Also a useful tip is to search previous hires and see what the client is called. That way you can put their name in the proposal and grab their attention.
