Why Is It So Difficult to Find a Trusted Freelancer

I have been looking for 2 weeks for a decent freelancer to do a complete tee spring site build. I get replies but then they just vanish. My job should not be difficult for an experienced graphic designer. I like to make sure buyer/seller are both protected and ask for an NDA and/or contract and then these freelancers skurry away like roaches when a light comes on. I can't find a social media profile for these people either. So, my question, why are you on BHW if you cannot agree to a contract and/or NDA and then claim that you will do amazing work. I do not get it!!!!

Depends on certail criteria - What you need, How you need it, Whats your budget, How flexible are you, What kind of work you need, Design in mind but not in paper, Have limited scope of work and can increase it anytime you feel suitable, Designer/Developer availability, Cost matching with your budget, Demand and Supply. Tee spring websites are not very regular and high in demand as they are less customizable. There are plus and minus to everything, you need to gain your focus and opening multiple threads won't be of help can get you a strike stroke eventually if overdone.

Regarding you cant find designer/developer on social platform -

You need to ask the profile and verify by sending message on that profile and contacting them. Mostly wont share in some cases and mostly can be shared. If you ask someones linkedin its fair, but if you ask Facebook its like going personal and even i will simply ignore your request.

Its best to hire from a site which offers escrow service like freelancer.com , upwork as the freelancer is only paid after he delivers the work. Upwork is expensive however, so try freelancer.com , it works great for me.

thank you. I am trying to just stay in the 'hire a freelancer section. not trying to get any strikes against me. I realize Tee Spring is not a fav of most people, but it is where I want to be. I just do not like the idea of having a WordPress site and all of the potential headaches that come with WP. I have the budget, I have the flexibility, but when I ask for a contract, they vanish. Not trying to get personal, but I also need to make sure I am protected. I am not asking to be 'freinded' by any means on Facebook. Just trying to be sure she/he really exists.

i am patient and asking questions to be sure the person is right for the job and we can work well together. It is when I ask for a contract or NDA and poof, the vanish into thin air...

Thats fine, but posting multiple times like everyday same requirements i don't think its useful.

Anyways good luck with search, and i agree that you have right to verify things as you want before you proceed. Just try to stick with professional platforms.
 
From where are you sourcing these freelancers? Many people are into freelancing BECAUSE they don't want to be bonded by a contract.

yes, I used HAF section. I did post multiple times. not denying anything. just looking for advice. Not angry with anyone - just a 'newbie' learning the ropes. I love BHW and I am learning all of the abbreviations, guidelines, etc. I don't like freelancer or upwork as quality is not that good. I have posted jobs and things like a logo and I got were stock images with a tweak to some text or color. Thought BHW would have better services b/c you need to earn a place here.

but then how does the buyer protect themselves from a FL who might be a bit shady or overexaggerates their skills? Contracts protect buyer and seller - there are not personal...just business

You should try doing business only with reputed sellers in BHW. Sellers with lots of positive feedbacks in their sales thread. I'm not sure how things work in your industry, but you can't enforce a NDA or any other agreement for that matter if you're doing business with a seller in a different country. The best those agreements can do is scare off a few people, some of them who might actually be a good fit for you otherwise.
 
Contract sign/ NDA - well most of the people will ignore the criteria. IMHO you can not be this hard online and to a freelancer who works for very reasonable price than agency or companies. Not to be rude but the fact is if you want to get work done by freelancers then you can not be that hard and trust them by so many factors OR is better to go to local agency and talk to them and sign the papers and pay well. Again, this is a fact. So many users above already told that sign/contract is okay but that hard is matter of scary and they will go away. Also, you need eye a sense to find freelancers who actually can do the job otherwise you will lose both time and money.

that makes sense. I am trying my best to find the right person/business. What does OP mean?
 
Why you need social media profiles of those freelancers ? Ask them their portfolio. Being a freelancer for 7 years, I wont hesitate to sign NDA unless there are some creepy terms in it. Freelancer will definitely look for milestone when ever they gets work, just to protect their time and work. Its easy to find a designer, if you have a clear terms and requirement, no matter what your budget is. Try HAF once. Good Luck with the project.
