Why is everything so fucking expensive ?

Ten years ago, you could get almost anything for free and now days everyone and their grandmother have an ecommerce site. Really? im going to pay $99 for coins on a game that i could burn in a few days ? Oh how about the image sites such as istock photo. $50 for a F photo ? I could keep going on and on. Today there is only a handful of products/services that are reasonably priced, everything else is F ridiculous.

Ask your grandpa about how he used to be able to buy a Coke for 5 cents. You guys can have a fun time bitching and moaning together. Seriously though, things are priced at whatever cost the market is willing to bear. Those coins are $99 because there are enough people who are willing to pay that much. If you're not, don't buy it. Vote with your wallet.
 
I have been living in Mexico for the last 7 years but last year I decided to move back to USA for a bit. Talk about sticker shock, I almost forgot how expensive everything is in USA lol.

P.S. You can get istock photos for free... Try inurl:istock and then the keyword.
 
Supply and demand control the price of everything. It's a simple concept and it works.
 
You think the US is expensive? Come to Australia. Name the price then double it; that's what we pay in Australia.
 
Easy question, simple answer: TAXES! Everyone has to pay taxes, even those who run the companies. At the end, you (the end-user) is paying the taxes. WHY? To reduce state-debt.
 
I remember old good days 10 years before... we (my family) bought all we needed for xmass for about 100 euros(presents, good eating for the guests etc... ), nowdays for 100 euros you can buy what you need to eat for about a week. You see everywhere "DISCOUNT" but really ? One of the points is that we are living now in the digital millennium.Everybody goes buy from inet and the prices for people working on the offline market are going to be poor just think about... and that can be only one of the reasons.

facepalm. I'm not sure political discussion is allowed, so I'm just not going to even respond further than that.
 
If you want cheap, earn in USD(via online), and living in Vietnam.

3 star hotel cost around $10.00 lulz per day.

Environment not bad, great food, ultra friendly people, free fast wifi everywhere(compare to Thailand, even wifi in hotel I need to pay wtf).

If your in the US, just cross the border into Canada, prices here are MUCH higher (from 25%-50%). Taxes are much higher (about 50% of whatever you make will end up being taxed).

A lot of people from Canada head down to the US to shop cuz you can save like $100-$1000 per trip depending on what you need to buy.

A small correction - to fund the government waste. No government cares to reduce its debt, only to keep it growing with a velocity that won't stop its ability to increase it by borrowing more :)
 
The relative cost of goods depends on the category. Obviously, the cost of computing continues to decline to the point that you can run a computer on your phone. Try to look at the bright side and this is where I show my age but I once spent $1500 in late 1980's money for an XT computer that had 640K of memory and a 20 GB hard drive that basically ran WordPerfect, Lotus and Dbase. My big game was Digger!

For $700 today I built a dual screen video graphics rendering computer, so it's not all bad.
 
while i would like to agree with you, shopping at my local supermarket at the correct time to ensure i can get a loaf of bread for 10 cents and lots of vegetables that i can freeze for similar prices, cutting back on meal sizes, all home cooking, buying quality second hand goods instead of brand new, all while increasing my income ensures this problem that most others face, is not relevant to me. Today has more cash shaving opportunities available than any other previous day before.
 
Well, people in Mexico also make a lot less ... Here in Spain, I pay about 1000€ for a nice apt. Back home I would have to pay at least 2000€ for the same standard. Groceries are at least half the price, wine is 1/3-1/4 of the price, a new car is way cheaper ... I could go on and on ... But the people living in Barcelona are still saying that it's a damn expensive city.
