Why is CBD such a Blackhat-Niche?

So I was looking into CBD niche, and on the first site, I see sites with hundred-thousands or millions of really low quality spammy russian and turkish links, not related too the niche...
Why does this work in no other legit niche, but does work in CBD?
And could you outrank them with a normal amount of High-Quality links?

Because it’s still illegal in the majority of countries and have heavy restrictions where it’s authorized.

I can confirm this. The german laws concerning cannabis are just a big bad joke in general.

But when it comes to cbd it gets really complicated. It is legal as a food supplement and can be used in cosmetics but NOT as a drug against pain, insomina or to increase appettite durining cancer treatment.
 
Here's a short explanation to why certain niches attract more BH seo schemes than others;
Niches I have in mind here are Casino, Dating, Health (CBD included) etc.

Because there are such high commissions, and pretty much every search term being buyer intent, you don't need much traffic to make a good chunk of money. So... keeping that in mind, that's why churn-and-burn sites are so popular in these niches. Managing to rank at the top for a keyword just for a couple of weeks, and then moving onto the next site, requires such a niche! You can't promote Amazon affiliate with this, it just wouldn't be worth it.

Keep in mind that churn-and-burn sites usually don't go places, besides in Google's junk pile that is. So there's a lot of money being thrown away by the makers, if you just manage to rank one in such niche, then you're still looking at a good amount of profit. If you were to use those same practices in Amazon affiliate for example, not so much.
 
But why does it work in these niches, but not in other niches?
I see sites staying in the top-3 for years, with these shitty backlink profile...

The only real problem are CBD flowers, Oil and extract can be labeled as Aroma Extract
Health Claims are a problem in general with all products, but I think that's somewhat ok, as this is a problem for people like "Robert Franz" who claim for every of their Supplements, that it cures cancer, and then show in vitro studies or some shit as "proof"...

I would agree you on this - But the OP said so many spammy links means, competitors on CBD niche are busy in doing negative SEO for each other as well.

This. I've seen clients who have less than 10K organic visitors per month pulling in high 5 figures per month in CBD. Where there is fast money to be made, you will always find the churn-and-burn crowd hanging out.

I was responding to OP's original post, but yes, these types of niches are ripe with negative SEO. It gets really dirty and unfortunately, negative SEO still works. If it's done right, it's almost impossible to revive a website that is new(ish) (less than a year old). The guys who do the churn and burn game the right way always have 4-5 websites being worked on at any one time.

I saw a CBD site that got hit with a penalty, they went from 1m month to 200k visitors a month.. All blackhat, funny.
 
Is diavowing the links enough to fight against negative SEO, or is there anything one can do against it?
