Why is BHW open?

About one year ago I found BHW using google. Since then i used google and search "inurl:blackhatworld subject" when i wanted to know something, and a few month ago I become a member. I am happy that I found BHW but...

Today a read a thread (old) the daily dot had been doing some writing and linked to BHW and quoted a few members in their article. Here on BHW, we share methods, software, ideas and services. It is not good if just anyone can find bhw and also start linking etc. Here is a few questions (se them as suggestions):

- Why is BHW indexed by google?

- Why can you read on BHW even if you not are a regristred member?

- Why can a completly new member (Newbie) have access to 90% of the forum?


The point is that SEO how it is today (white hat, grey hat, black hat) have not been around for that many years. But know when it has been here for a while it gets harder for every day. Is it really that wise to let just anybody come here and read?

I did not say anything about a fee... But obvious google's index-bots are allowed.

So if I work at Instagram or what ever I just search "methods to make money on instagram" aha, blackhatworld.. goldmine, cheers!

Yes ofc, google and what ever can get access here if they just want too. But thats not what I mean. For what reason have we choosen to be indexed by google when it ends up with publicity in news papers?

That's how the forum grows. I'll bet 90% of the members here found the forum through some sort of Google search or another.
 
Because SEO.

I found BHW by searching on google a common question, the answer was a thread on BHW.

Yes, ofc. But when a website is big enought people talk and it spreads anyway. But indexed by google or not. Why let people read if they are not regristred? And why not limit Newbies more? Give newbies access to only black hat, white hat, marketplace, other, introduction, the lounge and affiliate programs would be enought..


Edit: yes ofc I know seo, but I still don't get it why we would want great seo when the forum already is big, great and has it system to bring a income..
 
I have a counterquestion: How would you find BHW if it has been closed from being indexed? Nonsense.
 
By knowing people who use bhw? How would you find facebook if it was'nt indexed? :P
 
You've "Snatched" your free/open membership and now want the "Gates" to be closed?

Ofc I want BHW to continue to grow, with more awesome people contrubuting with knowladge. But I also don't want journalists sneaking around... :)
 
You found BHW through google... and now that you are a member and benefitting you want what done to the indexing? Wow!

More users means more revenue. Just because it holds quality content does not mean it should be hidden. Here's a thought: Go create a site with quality content, hide that content, wait for word of mouth to spread to bring visitors. See how well that works for you

Also, in this case, the content would not even be here without the users
 
This isn't some secret group for passing SEO secrets to each other.
This Forum is part of a business designed to make MONEY for it's owners.
More members mean more advertising revenue.
 
You discovered this forum through Google search, right?

Probably, you're using ad blocker, so you won't see ads on websites and social media. So i guess, the only possible means to see BHW is through search engine.
 
I predict in the future there'll be more "closed" forums. Right now Google is the easiest way to find things. But this business model is not eternal. In Europe we see a trend towards newspapers charging Google to allow Google to make $$$ from its contents....right now newspapers let Google get all its contents and profit by themselves....

Webmasters need Google traffic, but if suddenly this trend shifts, it may become the case that Google will pay webmasters in order to use their content. Now wouldn't that be neat.

Who knows what the future holds.

Right now being "open" is more profitable. That's all there is to it.
 
You have to remember BHW is NOT Facebook at all, Facebook has 1 BILLION+ users so yes of course you will hear about it even if it was not indexed.

I did not find out about BHW from a person but from a google search about a question.

If it was not for this site being indexed in google and open to read with out registering I might not have generated a few ten thousand dollars in sales last year which for me changed my life.
