AI is becoming more and more mainstream everyday, used even by the biggest corporations, why is it put in the black hat section??

It's considered black hat because Google said it's black hat.

We're all playing in their playground.

If you're going to use it, do a LOT of human editing on it. My 2 cents.

At work, we trained an AI to recognize 50% of AI-spun content in less than 24 hours. (This was pre GPT3 though... ) After a month of machine learning, we were able to identify nearly 80% of it.

I have no direct / inside knowledge, but I'm pretty sure Google can spot spun content at close to 100% of the time. Of course, no one knows how much testing they do during a standard crawl. Analyzing content is expensive from a processing perspective.

That being said, you can probably get away with it over the short-term if you have no long-term revenue ambitions, and you're prepared to consistently produce new content to new domains. (Cue the guy who says he's been doing it for a year already. Yeah, yeah I know. Falling from a 20 story building is 100% harmless before you splat.)

Anything that games SERPs is considered as Blackhat. It depends on you whether you use it to game the SERPs (Blackhat) or you use it for personal stuff such as writing a description for your products (whitehat)

So then, it doesn't count.

Spun content looks like shit. I'm sure they can spot it, too.

EDIT: Sorry. Just woke up and I'm grumpy when I first wake up.
Let me rephrase this...
POORLY spun content looks like shit.
Not only do I know how to generate actual content with AI, from a ton of practice, but also, I could spin it in such a way that I would fool the hell out of your software.

Spinning content is an art. It's not just the return of stuff you input into a spinner, taking whatever bullshit output you receive.

Unless you're creating your content by hand from personal experience, Google considers you a "black hat".

Google wants "webmasters with experience to display their knowledge for searchers and relevant webmasters to link back to them to keep the information chain consistent/quality".

It makes sense from a creative perspective. Like, if I were to develop a search engine, I wouldn't want misinformation or garbage spun content dominating my search results.

But, I am who I am, and they are who they are, so I generate shit tons of AI content and send backlinks towards them. :)

Not AI content though. Plenty of auto generated Q&A sites ranking top.
I revised what I said. But yes, there's a massive difference between GPT-3 (for example) and WordAI (for example). The latter of which, I'd never recommend, anyway.

Or, what was that other content generator from a few years ago? That was pure crap as well. Forge something.. Content Forge? Whatever it was called, that was BS, too. I wrote a review on that one.

EDIT: ArticleForge! That's the name of it. I literally just came across a thread about it after I exited this one! LMAO!

I'm going to leave that thread alone.

Depends on how you are using AI. It's not really blackhat if it can help with repetitive work that doesn't need to be done. Its to say tractors are the black hat method of farming.

AI Content is considered Blackhatw by Google. But it wasn't their stance always. They themselves have many times said how good "their AI" is and how it will help a searcher's journey through the SERPs. But it became only a problem when people started using AI to create content. And as big of a garbage pit Google is, they started to shit on AI.

Summary: Google calls AI Blackhat because it Works!

Because people are abusing it. AI content = Garbage content (in most cases). It is not a 'push button generate content' solution. This is how people try to use it and then cry when their shit gets thrown off the index.

If you edit it enough and make it as good as if it were written by a level headed human, then you should be fine. What does that mean though? it's NOT ONLY THE GRAMMAR/SENTENCE STRUCTURE, it is the actual content as well. You want a good well researched article, if it ends up being partial AI that's fine. But if it is just well written giberish then that is useless, no one wants to read garbage. It needs to answer the search query, and have all of the qualities of a well written article.

Now, remember this only applies to you and me. If NY Times or Wikipedia start using AI content, they would be able to get away with it 100%. Authorities don't have the same rules as you and me. Most of the review type content put out by big authorities is horrible rehashed bullshit but it ranks just fine.

well anything against guideline is Blackhat,
btu imagine they say it's ok. Than they decided let use our billion usd ai to monopolize content creation. Create thousand thousand of blog, short story, quiz, affiliate site with their own ai,
than push it up with their own search engine lol.
now that i think about it wonder if some google employee is the owner of most Ai site hahaha.

I can distinguish shitty content with quality content 100% of the time, I am pretty sure Google can too and shitty contents just means less retention to their money maker, so yeah, that’s probably pretty much the reason

If the AI content is high quality, it's considered white hat.

Even if it's low quality, if it triggers "usefulness" signals then it's white hat.

Could you please explain what human editing is the most efficient? I would also be really proud if you could post some tool to check if content is AI generated
