I always see people advertising Twitter accounts by promoting the year the account was created. Why is this relevant?

To pretend genuinely an old member since the profile page shows "Joined Month Year".

Also they can be used for botting as they will be less likely marked as spam as compared to newly created accounts. Also, old accounts were able to put GIF as their profile picture and such accounts can be find on market.

More or less the same situation is with all social networks. Old accounts inspire confidence and have less chances to be banned.

This makes sense. I assumed this was the case but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Credibility and trust. Two things related to your social profile's age. Also, the engagement as well.
