Why Increase Alexa Ranking?

I dont understand why do people increase their alexa ranking? I dont think it brings more traffic from alexa, like it does when you increase your google ranking...

There's some evidence that traffic volume and indicators of traffic volume and popularity (like Alexa) are starting to have some bearing on the serps.

Some affiliate programs won't let you in if you don't have a site of a certain size (eg. top million, 100K etc).

When you sell a site, Alexa rank is one thing that buyers will look at.

Some people just want bragging rights by getting a site in the top 100K.

Sites like Flippa highlight it so people buy traffic to their sites before selling it to increase their alexa ranking. Just another thing to ignore if you buy sites there

There is many reasons to increase your Alexa Rank. One big one is it increases your ranking if your ranking 3rd spot from the top but your getting more traffic then the top guy, eventually Big G will put you number one. Plus if you would like to flip your site one day Alexa is the only way to go get it up, then make bank

Simple, many people like alexa stats... i know it doesn't seem as an accurate trafficmeter tool, but sometimes we can see and guess about how much traffic, is it popular site, and many more....

I've asked myself that question before...
it seems like ALEXA ranking is a used as quick indicator of the volume of traffic the site gets....by a lot of people....
so.... now people want a higher rating...
Alot of people do not know that there are
services that give you high alexa ranking....

Depends...you can buy fake traffic...many ways to increase it,i got my site 600k in 2 weeks,without any fake traffic.

Alexa rank is very helpful for different result mainly for selling it.Because by it people thinking about its traffic.I have many website and maximum is over 100K but 1 domain is within 20K

i bought fake traffic,however the bounce rate on the traffic is about 95%, so I'm worried that google might see it as being a low quality site, and drop my SERP rankings.

On the other hand, Alexa is definitely the go to place to see how big a site really is, my rank is 2.2m worldwide, and 500k in usa. I get about 150 hits a day through organic search. I really want to get below 100k really badly, any other advice for me??

If you have GA installed, then you will almost certainly experience a drop in SERPS. What do they love? Good user experience. What is a 95% bounce rate an indication of?

Alexa is also completely useless, it was irrelevant years ago, and it's irrelevant now.

MY ALEXA RANK OBSERVATION AFTER 6 YEARS:
Back in 2006, I had dealings with several large sites, each with over 1M in monthly UV's. When I looked them all up on Alexa, it seemed that each of these sites had an Alexa Rank of 8000 or below. This indicated to me back then that any page below 8000 had at least a million visitors a month (and by simple inverse proportion, any site with a 16000 Alexa rank had around 500k UV's a month).

Nowadays, I seem to notice that most pages I see with a 15000 alexa rank (or below) are hitting the 1M UV a month. Anyone concur with my observation?
