I used to lean heavily into video creatives, thinking they always outperformed static ads. But lately, I’ve been surprised by how well some basic image ads are doing—especially after recent Meta updates. They’re quicker to make, easier to test, and way cheaper to scale. What’s even more interesting is that some of the least polished creatives are pulling in better ROAS than highly-produced videos.

If you’ve been sleeping on image ads, now might be a good time to test a few. You don’t need anything fancy—just clear messaging and a solid hook. Sometimes simple just works better.

It's a valid test. Videos, images and carrousel must be tested, all of them have potential, for some niches images can perform better than videos

Testing various ad formats is essential for successful advertising, and your experience with image ads versus video creatives highlights this well. It's smart to adapt to changes, like those from recent Meta updates, that may affect ad performance. The cost-effectiveness and efficiency of image ads make them a valuable addition to your strategy.

I have been testing ads with post , carousel and reels . I notice the same thing that images get better leads and cheaper in comparision to others.

Images have mostly outperformed videos for the last 5 years for me. Videos work better for e-commerce physical products though. I think it depends on the industry. Those with higher CLTV may need more reading. Those physical products may need more showing

You can experiment with different forms to see which gives you the best results.

yeah same here. i used to focus mostly on video but now a lot of my image ads are performing better. they’re faster to make, easier to test, and cost less. after meta’s recent changes, simple image creatives with a strong hook are working really well. definitely worth testing.

the meta has changed, simple image ads with a clear focus often perform better than high-quality videos. They are easier to scale, less expensive to test, and quicker to respond.

Users scroll fast. Simple image ads with bold text or a striking product visual often gets the message across in 1 second or less - no need to wait 5–10 seconds for a video hook

I have also been a seller for the past 5 years. I find that using images is more effective. The conversion rate is higher than video. I also ran a test with video, but besides likes and comments with good interaction, the conversion rate to sales is not there.

Totally agree - image ads are underrated. Been seeing good CTR with simple creatives lately too. Seems like Meta's algo is shifting again.

Totally agree. I've seen the same lately some basic image ads are outperforming polished videos, especially for cold traffic. They load faster, look more organic, and let you test messaging without overthinking production. It's a good reminder that clarity beats fancy most of the time. I’ve also noticed that ad sets perform better when I include both image and video creatives together. Are you testing more lifestyle-style images or graphic/offer-based ones?

Simple image ads with a clear focus are easy to track, cost-effective, and provide quick feedback. With Meta’s recent updates, image ads are currently performing very well.

I agree! With Meta's updates, image ads have definitely become more effective. They’re quick to produce, cost-efficient, and easier to test. Sometimes, the simplicity of a clear message and strong hook can outperform highly-polished videos. It’s worth testing if you haven’t already!

Totally agree! Image ads can be super effective, especially with the right messaging and visuals. Less production cost, faster testing, and better ROI. Maybe it's time to rebalance the video-image ad mix in your strategy?

I used to swear by video ads—until image creatives started outperforming them. Since recent Meta updates, basic image ads have been killing it: easier to make, faster to test, and cheaper to scale. Even low-effort ones are getting better ROAS than polished videos.
If you’ve been sleeping on static ads, now’s the time to test a few. Clear message + strong hook = winning formula. Simple just works.

You're not wrong. I've seen the exact same. Simple static creatives are killing it right now. Seems like the platforms are prioritizing direct messages over flashy videos. Definitely worth running some tests, no need to overthink them.

Totally agree - image ads are performing surprisingly well lately. Meta’s recent updates seem to favor simpler creatives with clear hooks.
