If I use a computer dedicated just to automate isntagram with JARVE, would be the same instead to use a VPS?
The VPS is useful only if you can't use the computer 24/7 right or I would get more benefits?

Thanks

When going with VPS - another benefit would probably be a smaller electricity bill that usually people forgot. More stable internet connection as well. Other than that - for most of cases - a good desktop computer will have more computing power thus you will be able to run more concurrent accounts with jarvee on your computer than on VPS with the same costs. VPS are usually protected against hardware failure, this is what you should take into account - what will happen when your dedicated computer hard drive will end its life?

A VPS runs in an environment like this:

Those things can run for 5 years 24/7 non-stop provided it's managed by a skilled IT team. The hard drives can be hot-swapped, meaning if they fail they can be changed without stopping your vps. The hardware is tested to run for years nonstop. The OS won't give a fuck even if it's tortured. The hard drives are server grade and easily last half a decade even with all the torture. The OS will even update without restarting. Those things are hulks when it comes to computing hardware.

Your home computer? Windows will prolly fuck you with an update by the 50th day.

That's not the only benefit tho. The above only matters when you are running critical stuff that is supposed to be run non-stop for long periods. Maybe that's not your usecase.

The main benefit is virtualization. Vps by their nature are expendable since they run in a virtualized environment. You mess something up and now your machine is riddled with viruses? No problem. Just delete the instance and start a new one. Polluted your ip? No problemo just spin a new instance in a different region. Fucked up real bad and now the entire ip range is blocked? Jump to a new hosting provider.

A vps is also scalable. You can spin up many instances anytime you want on demand. If you only have a "home computer workflow". It won't scale.

In the end, it depends on your usecase. If you factor in the electricity and wear on your own machines, vps and self hosting come about to be equal in most places.

the only problem with using a vps is you have to learn linux cause if you use something related to microsoft well you have to pay more. The advantage is that if you learn how to use VPS you can add additional skill to your arsenal because you can make money out of it.

Overall the scalability of VPS outweighs using your own PC.

VPS gives you opportunity to retain same work page even after disconnection from power source

With a VPS you dont have to worry about electricity and internet bills. You can get a good one for as low as $5.

A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a great option for small businesses or individuals who need the features and flexibility of a dedicated server but don't have the resources to host their own. With a VPS, you can install your own software and make changes to the server configuration, giving you more control and flexibility than you would have with a shared hosting plan.

Additionally, a VPS gives you privacy and security, as you are the only one using the server. This can be important for businesses that want to keep their customer data confidential or for individuals who want to keep their online activity private.
