hi. I'm a little noob in seo. My friends asked me to help them rank in their little business.

http://albinowie.pl

they are doing scenography in my country.

the keyword is scenografia.

the competition in google.pl is:
700k sites for keyword scenografia (1st pages are not seo optimised, just have the keyword in the domain name)

the guys from the competition have like 5-10 backlinks in yahoo explorer, the first page is wiki

22k monthly search(global, local=8k) in last month, medium advertiser competition.

I seo optimised the blog, wrote 2 articles, added seo plugins, added auto links, stuffed the site with the keyword, made meta tags, etc.

Since 2 weeks, i pinged the site with pingler, made 1000 nofollow links, and hundreds ********, some edu and high PR links, yahoo explorer today shows 180 inlinks. (there will be more) The site is not banned. About 100 pages indexed. It is 6 months old.

The site is still not in the top 100 SERP. Shouldnt it be already there?

I really want to help those guys, the recession is killing them.

thanks for help.

ps. i tried to create a lens with english article and polish anchor link, but they removed it.

You have added your links too quickly and possibly linked from off-topic sites, so this could have invoked the filter known as the sandbox.

700k sites is not low competition :).

There is one huge advantage in having the keyword in your domain name. When other sites/directories link to your website, they often use your url as the anchor text. This way you will get a lot of links to your site with the keyword in the link text. And that is even more important than having SEO optimized pages.

You are currently ranked somewhere 140-150 for this single word. And let's face it: 145th or 23rd, that almost doesn't make a difference. I'd suggest you to aim for some lower competition keywords. Try and make 1st page there and eventually your rankings for the main keyword will rise as well.

thanks. do you have a good tool to check serps? or do you do it manually? i only have a tool which checks top100

try using linkwheel tactic with the howie springer. If you use your website as the center of the wheel, you'll get first page in google. But it's a lot of hard work since 700k competitor. Maybe you need to make 3 or more wheel level.
I use linkwheel to dominate first page of google, it's really worth the effort for long term.

You may want to try some social bookmarking as well. I have hit front page of Google with 1 squid lens and just a couple keyword focused bookmark submits. I would indeed consider using the link wheel method. You can just build wheels around wheels for higher competition keywords.

There are ways to get ranked well even with a search term that brings back 2 million results...it just takes a lot more time and effort.

you were very helpful guys i really appreciate it.

you have several factors the most important its time

why time?
- time to google trust on your site
- time do get out of sandbox

After this two factors are ok you can start backlinking, try to only link from sites with same context, never use only one anchor text, use like learning scenografia, all about scenografia and so one.

Try also on the sites with more pagerank linking for the word only.

Bookmark your site on several 2.0 properties.

Do this slowly, never more than 20 links on one day.

This is white hat way, takes longer, but you see results after 30/60 days

with exact keyword domain .com .net and 10 good links you can go to first page very very fast

It may also help if you used alt-image tags on your home (logo) image. It can be different on each page as well.

Everything else looks pretty good, a little time and no funny stuff and this site should do well... then stop making changes for awhile to see where you settle in the serps.

Although i agree with the keyword in the URL to some extent. Google/Ebay is just a example of what can be done without keywords in the URL.

That's because google and ebay had a real service to offer that beat out all the other competition.

You might also want to add a RSS feed to your site and submit it using RSS submit software found on BHW.

I did a search and got the following result from Google.pl

scenografia - 1,810,000

"scenografia" - 1,780,000

I'm not sure how you got the 700,000.

Anyways, besides the competition being high(even 700,000 is high), that is just a single keyword. If you ware going after something like this, it will take and a dedicated campaign.

You'd be doing yourself and your friends a favor by targeting longer keyphrases that are related to your main keyword and build up from there.

This will get you ranked faster for all the longer, less-competitive keywords as well build up authority for your main keyword which will then help you rank higher for your main keyword as well.
