My ad appears on the first position yet it's at the bottom of a page.. why google does this? that position is worse than not having ad displayed at all.. not only it fucks up my CTR but even if i get a click, it's the worst kind..

I'm trying to adverise single product with low search volume and almost no competition whatsoever, bid strat is set to manual enchanced, first page bid is on average $0.40-$0.50

search volume on keywords ranges between 500-3000 searches

I have 14 keywords spread across 4 ad groups, each group has 2 ad copies - my ads and extensions are damn relevant, landing page also is decent with compressed images

So i just don't understand why google does this to me. My ads most of the time don't show up all either because ad rank is too low or other ad was displayed instead of mine, but when they do, it's at the damn bottom and oftem i'm only ad on that page.. out of 14 keywords only one has quality score displayed which is 7.. 2 first organic search results are from amazon

I target US only, my bid ranges from $0.50 to $0.95

~24h not a single click..

It's all about quality. YOU may think your ads are relevant but the only votes that count are what the searchers think of your ads. You said one keyword with QS of 7 so that's the big clue. This means all others are 6 or less, my guess is you have most under 5. In short, users are not finding your ads relevant, your QS is low and therefore, Google does not think they should be at the top of the results. That's why they do it, other ads are better and it makes them more money that way.

You must understand paying more for ads doesn't mean you get 1st
Google has changed a lot

Extra $$ for Google doesn't worth annoying billions of users with irrelevant ads!

The price that is quite high, using SEO hours is probably the best

How many landing pages you have? What's your page loading time? Is it responsive or mobile friendly? Finally, what's your bounce rate?

This post from the @LucidMarketing couple of years ago has lots of good points, Kudos to him! His post helped me a lot to optimize my product landing pages. ( We used to spend lots of money on products ads, but his post helped me to tweak landing pages for better QS )

One thing that I don't agree with him is; Bounce rate, I believe bounce rate also a factor on QS.

Thank You for all the answers, but honestly I must say that telling me that it's all about the quality is overgeneralizing..

As of now i'm only driving traffic to 3 of my keywords, avg pos for them is 1.1, 1.5 and 1.6 search impr. share 72 - 87% .. tell me how can it get any better from being displayed almost always at the first position? and as i said it's at the damn bottom of a page

quality score for all of them is at 5/10 with expected CTR being below avg. ad relevance at above avg. and landing page experience being avg

yet i'm being told to better my quality because $ isn't google's priority.. I guess I could hire a programmer to make my pages faster to load so landing page score goes from avg to above.. but tell me how is this fucking efficient and more importantly - how is this going to get my ad at the top of a SERP?

it's the same on all 3 of these keywords I do not controll expected CTR.. it's all in hands of google and it's a fucking joke.. you can't tell me that quality of my ad is poor in that situation..

and tell me how expected ctr can be any higher with placement being always at the damn bottom? how is google taking that into account?.. it always counts as impression even if user never scrolls down to see my ad.. how fucked up is that..

I've read an article that google has tweaked algorithm so that for some keywords ads are displayed only at the bottom leaving top of a SEPR to organic results only "because users are more likely to scroll down and click the bottom ad for those keywords" and the same article has shown sales data for one ecom store with numbers clearly taking a dive once that change was introduced.. and this company's tactic was to target low search keywords

This might as well be fake article, i'm not denying that.. but if it's not then it's obvious to me that google wants advertisers to bid on more competitive keywords

and let me tell you.. when i tried to rank for a keyword [moon lamp] google could display 8 fucking ads on a SERP and I ranked 1-2 on the most competitive keyword

so please tell me what the fuck can I do? is it truly the quality issue? I guess I could try google shopping, because plas are displayed on top, while single damn ad copy is always at the bottom

As you can tell i'm frustrated

everything I do is met with the same result.. I just no longer believe that simply further tweaking landing pages will miraclely put my ad on top of the SERP when noone of my competitors could achieve it

My ads and product are designed to solve consumer's problem.. i just don't understand what google wants from me?.. am I not meeting an ad rank threshold to appear on top? do I really have to up my bid even further because expected CTR fucks up my score?..

as I said in my post above I could try to do google shopping but it would probably never be profitable for me since my ad would be displayed right next to walmart's.. and their prices are just unbeatable

And whenever I'm researching a new product and I google it, I see the same damn shit - that is 1. google plas on top of SERP 2. followed by organic results 3. closed with 1-3 ad copies

and that makes me wonder if PPC is still viable for ecom? am i really left only with high competition KWs and completely new trending products?..

no wonder why people pick facebook over adwords :/

Mango, you DO control CTR. You want better QS and move up to the top? You need to have ads that get better CTR than competitors have in the position you're in. It's actually as simple as that. Give those searching what they're looking for and they'll click more often.

Having proper keywords helps too but that's the easy part. Your keywords are the name of your product. Don't do what I've seen many times and bid on “puppy” if you sell a dog collar.

You mention bidding on “moon lamp”. I don't know what that is, have a vague idea of what it might be. Doesn't matter, seems that's what the product is and some want one. All you have to do now is create an ad that makes people want to click. Focus on the client, not yourself. If a moon lamp gets someone more women, that's a big benefit so mention it in the ad. If that's true and what they want, you'll get clicks.

You said so yourself, your product solves a problem. If you do mention in the ad, great. But at a QS of 5, less likely or it's the wrong benefit, or saying it wrong.

Google shopping may be better. It's a physical product right? But even there you need to have good QS in order to even show. If what you use the same copy you do in your text ads, and it's not doing well, it's not likely to translate well to shopping.

Google does not display your ad if your content is not relevant to your heading. It may be possible that crawler does not find links present in your relevant or many other reasons may be possible. So, firstly try to improve your ad more attractive and powerful so that Google display it on top of search engine results page.

Try this : set your ad CPC to something really large just for 5 minutes and see.
