I got into a heated debate from another forum, and he pointed out, among others, my usage of 'spunned' instead of 'spinned' articles. I usually don't care being corrected as long as I learn but is there really a need to be rude and unkind, granted the topic is not grammar but SEO? :eek: Why is everyone trying to walk over people who are trying all their lives to learn and use a foreign language instead of helping them learn?

Neither "spunned" or "spinned" is an English word. The correct term is simply "spun".

So tell the guy arguing that he's an asswipe because he is correcting you with a word that doesn't even exist. LOL
 
I do not think that successful marketers have the time to argue with others on such topics. Leave them arguing and just be occupied with your work.
 
It's neither "spunned" nor "spinned". It's "spun".
 
I normally ignore such people. I bet he was jobless and didn't had anything else to do which is why he started trolling.

Besides, there is no correct grammar or term when it comes to SEO because SEO alone is its own dictionary.
 
"Spunned" or "spinned" am not a word. That guy are also incorrec .t. Proper grammar and speling am assential bcuz otherwiese you can't not undersatnd what the people is saying to u. imagin how unprofesional it sound like when you spel wurds rong and use wrong gramar in ur sentenses.
 
because

a) some people are asshats

b) if you're trying to learn english as a second language, you should be grateful that people are pointing out your errors, even if it is done rudely

c) grammar is not irrelevant to seo. effective marketing is highly dependent on proper use of whatever language you're marketing to. simple spelling & grammatical errors will seriously undermine your credibility when addressing a general audience.
 
I have often heard that such guys are termed as Grammar Nazis on social networking platforms. On a personal viewpoint, I don't bother much on such silly things, and if there is really a need to tell others about their mistakes, I make sure they aren't hurt by my comment. Lastly, that guy is an idiot because he is so obsessed with himself that he forgot it's "Spun" rather than "Spunned" ... Just ignore such idiots and move on. We all have many more sensible things to bother about. What say. :)

Just keep doing what you know works and let the "blowhard" keep "blowing wind" until he runs out.
 
Correct grammar is important on the internet, in my opinion. When your dealing with people through text and not face to face, a well written post is easier to read and gives the impression that you know what your talking about. If you were talking to someone in real life you would not talk like a gangster and say "I spunned that article" so why do it on the internet? If you want to get anywhere, networking is a critical tool, therefore it is important to maintain the appearance of someone that would be beneficial to network with.

Having said that... I don't think it really matters if other people do it, I mean if that's the way they want to portray themselves then that is their choice. Calling them out on it, it is hard to read and calling them names or making assumptions on their level of intelligence are two different things.

Everyone deserves respect until proven otherwise.
 
Using grammar properly helps others to take you more seriously.

For example,

If someone wrote, "I send spined content to site and it no gd y u thnk dis may b?"

I can't take him or her serious.
 
Oh just move on, don't worry about people like them.
 
Anyone that corrects a persons grammar on a forum is nothing more than a basement dweller that can only stroke their E-Dick if they berate someone else post. Or they cannot provide a useful answer so they point out the flaws of others.

Proper grammar is a must when dealing with business contacts. When dealing with your peers, you should be able to speak any way that you like. Misspellings and all.
 
I could see someone taking an issue with you're/your or they're/their, which always brings someone down a notch in my book ("How intelligent can you really be," is my usual thought), but what you describe is just a case of an angry, bitter little forum troll. Like someone else said, successful people have neither the time nor the inclination to lash out on the internet over something like this.
