why doesn't search console show certain backlinks ?

In most cases you have to wait.
But from what I see in internet, from case studies of people - Google don't crawl often backlinks from crappy hostings. I'm talking about PBN only.
If you build high PR links and it is indexed then it should takes a few days to show up in GSC.
Are they indexed?

You should using the non-www version in Search Console. When trying both versions of the site (www and non-www) which is not ideal. The site is using https. www redirects to non-www. Search console is also https. Additionally the links I am looking for all use https.

yes, the links are indexed, but as far as i can see across all of my sites in search console, some domains never show up.
like facebook and twitter. some of the social profiles have been in index for almost a decade now.
