Why doesn't BHW have a chat room?

We got a lounge. If you are asking about that small chat box on top, that's not BHW thing.

Chatting will kill half of the group activity and makes most of the content one-time use only. So, there will repetition of content. For example, if Ahrefs reduces their trial to $4, then there will be a random guy posting it in chats for next few weeks. The spammers will love it and keep posting affiliate links & random stuff. This will be a burden for mods and 2-3 of them need to leave everything else and monitor chats.
So, basically it doesn't add any value to the forum, kills threads, reduces overall user engagement, increases workload for mods etc. BHW is meant for pros and we can't stay here chatting all day about movies, sports or memes like teenagers.

As mentioned above -
We have the lounge for general IM and non-IM chat-style discussions.
We have pm's for messaging 1:1 or 1:many how to send a pm
We have a full list of forums for general IM discussions
