Why does youtube pay astronomically more than anything else for views?

I'm looking to start working hard on driving traffic in order to make money on ads. As a test, I drove 3k views to one of my friends Youtube videos. The estimated revenue he would have earned is $0.58 - $9.

Now, if I drove those same 3k views to my website and used an ad network that approves everyone, it would only make around $0.12. WITH EXTREMELY INVASIVE ADS

My problem with Youtube is that they can shut your channel down at any time, I dont want to build something and always be at risk of it getting banned. That is the only reason Im not sure about Youtube.
