Why does this keep happening to BHW?

Note: I am learning, but I am not an SEO guy yet.

When I google "bhw", normally, BlackHatWorld comes up at the top. However, occasionally it does not (See below, came 4th).

Why does this happen? Are rankings normally a little fluid like this?

I guess its just that bhw on its own is a very ambiguous phrase and its probably hard for Google to know what you are searching for. A bit like searching for "e".
 
I can think of several possible explanations.

Firstly, did you log in to your Google account when searching for BHW?

Secondly, according to your location, you're in the UK. So perhaps when you Google for BHW, Google's algorithm assumes you're searching for that very term that's based in UK (local search results), thus it brings up RPRA instead.
 
It's often Location Specific -- Google try as much to understand and replicate what should be the best output from every input ( Search Query ) .
 
It's not only localised, it's targetted to you. Google alters personalised results slightly according to what preferences it assigns you, based on your activity. I'm in the UK - I get this:

Maybe you're just too interested in birds?
