Consider a cloud hosting. How fast is your internet connection? https://mega.nz/pro 400GB for $5. You can safely store your data. Should work out for a few months until you made enough money to buy a new physical drive or a smaller drive while keeping the cloud storage.
It's hard to tell without actually seeing or hearing it. My guess is that it's probably not a hardware issue primarily or at all, but a software one. When your machine is idling, a process might put stress on the system for whatever reason, which makes the processor/HDD sweat and the voice you hear is actually the fan (which can be faulty, what you can't hear, when it's not spinning too fast).

You have to understand, I don't say it like that because I want to make fun of you or something. If there is important business data on a drive that makes sounds like that with that many working hours action has to be taken. It's a severe threat to your data.
I can't tell numbers here (Google might be better) but my drives have 5k and 15k hours. The second one came to me one year ago with roughly 13k hours. Considering that I am relatively active your 32k must mean lots of lots of years. I also heard about HDDs lasting forever "If they don't die immediately they last forever" Stuff like that. With 14 years you were definitely lucky. Most HDDs fail due to humidity or bumps..I know that you were just trying to help, no worries. But you still worried me
Also, since we are at it, how many hours should a HDD / SSD be used for before it needs replacement? In the past I've had HDDs that have lasted over 14 years and never had problems with them (probably I've been lucky?)
