why does everyone use Cloudflare??

Guys, I'm curious...

there's not a single day on BHW that someone doesn't recommend Cloudflare, but their Trustpilot score is 1.5 (ie. bad), so this tells me that either TP is not reliable (which - so far - I've heard anyone saying this), or CF is bad indeed, in which case why do you keep using it?

Can I get some insight into what you really like about this site that you keep making it money despite of the fact that everyone (that's not you :p ) keeps giving it bad scores?

I don't even know what you're talking about... The last time I checked CF (3 years ago??) I only noticed that it's a domain registrar, CDN and something about SSL or firewalling or something, I'm not sure cause I'm not good at this stuff...

So what analytics are you talking about? Google analytics, or are they having their own analytics? (probably the latter if I think better...)
 
It's free, easy to set up, and offers plug-and-play optimizations for speed & security. Very few viable competitors out there with a similar free plan. They're simply too big to compete with and majority of the internet flows through them. That's why everyone uses them. Incapsula is better in almost every regard, especially security, but the pricing is reflective of that.

so how do you justify its Trustpilot score if it's so good? I know that a lot of sites are using it (it must be being really good at security I guess), but then why does it keep getting hammered into the ground on TP? What's so bad about it that overshadows every good thing that it offers?

Cloudflare just works and it's simple to set up. I've never had issue with them. Right now it feels unusual for any of my site to not have cloudflare hooked up.
 
Trustpilot isn’t a good measure for services like Cloudflare. Most reviews come from people who had a problem, while millions use it daily without issues.

People here recommend it because: Free plan gives SSL, CDN, and DDoS protection and Easy to set up and improves speed/security.

Cloudflare is bigger than Trustpilot. If they want, they can buy TP and change their rating to 15 stars (that's right, 15 stars). The thing is, as mentioned, they only go to Trustpilot to review negative things. It's unlikely anyone will naturally, organically, review positive things, especially since they don't even encourage reviews. But I bet if they sent an email asking for feedback, the rating would be at least 4.5 stars, but they don't care about that and they're so right.

Cloudflare is huge. 10 years ago, it was just free DNS and SSL. Today, it has everything you need. Bot detection, traffic analysis, Lambda functions, storage, VPN, Cloudflare Zero Trust, and dozens of other services, the vast majority with a generous free tier. They've just recently entered the email blast segment.

In short, they have a low rating because they don't care about the TP, they don't encourage customers to review, so only people who have had something negative will give a negative review, which is the minority of people.
 
Cloudflare is amazing, you can offload so many things with it, so your server uses less resources, it's a no-brainer
 
I don't use, I just remember the existence of this shit when BHW forces me to deal with their annoying captcha, sometimes it happens when I'm travelling or my IP changed, boring

I use it, but i stopped buying domains through them its too complicated and you don't get support. I use name silo, and any changes I make, i can get them verified by an person in a couple of minutes. Its like a 1$ at most difference a year?

that's exactly what I wanted to hear as the reason I was researching CF was for domain names because all of the other options are bad, so I had to lower myself to CF's standard.

But you've answered exactly what I was hoping to hear, and now CF is crossed off my list too.

Thanks everyone for your insights, I got a pretty good idea of what CF is (I don't think it's fully trash, but it's also not what I'm looking for at the moment), so my need for knowledge had been satisfied :)

Score of 1.5 characterizes TP, not CloudFlare :)
CloudFlare is an excellent tool, since it's free, it hosts your DNS records, it provides CDN and it hides your web-site real IP. It's just "wow!"
I used paid tools with similar functionality, and I was not as happy as with CloudFlare.
 
Every serious alternative either costs more or lacks the same global CDN coverage
 
Yeah you have to pay like the monthly membership fee, which is where they get you if you want just 24 hour email response, then priority chat support is another package upgrade i think, lol i don't like that. If your a bit nooby like me anyway, and want someone to talk to on support, cloud flare is defaintly bad, it took me a couple of hours to find a setup setting, and get my domain working, and it was through claude i got my answer, NOT anything to do cloudflare, they only provided a very technical explaination if i remember of their options, and the one i wanted wasn't their "just leave default". Once claude explained things to me, i understood things more, and then @Diplomat confirmed to me that yes the reason my site was getting a loop redirection, was the same setting i had changed my cloudflare to once it was fixed.

He's the goto networking guru, lol dude, you need your own networking interface to your brain now, so when people have networking problems on bhw they can ping your telegram brain wifi itnerface! lol

The reason everyone uses Cloudflare is because its Easy to use and The biggest Reason its free, I haven't experienced it in paid but Just the thing is that When people Get something for free, they Dont value it Its just my perspective, But as per my personal experience when something goes bad, customers gives an bad review if anything goes bad but if its working fine , their is an small chance they would Review it but most people and Costumers only Give reviews when something is bad.
 
I mostly use Bunny as a CDN, but they only got one node in my country, so when I want an extra edge on a local site here I use CF since they got a couple more endpoint nodes here in different cities.

I once wrote a huge comment, and when I clicked send, Cloudflare's recaptcha appeared, and I lost everything I had typed.

Now, whenever I write more than 5 lines, I always copy the entire text before sending.
