Why does Duplicate Content Not Apply To E-commerce Sites?

Duplicate content = the same content on more than one page of your website

I have seen tons of e-commerce sites with duplicate content on every page.

Example: shoesniper dot com

They earn 10k per month and all there product pages have the same 500 word article just replacing the product name on every page

Yes , this holds truew for a lot of sites in e commerece vertical. You;re right. Google has different rules for judging e-commerece site.

You got it wrong ! Duplicate content issue is one of the headache in e-commerce site. To avoid this people are using rel=canonical.

If they're doing it right they're using rel="canonical" or else setting those pages to not be indexed. But who knows.. That site has essentially no links.
