Why does an inner page rank higher than main domain?

For about a month I have a website that when you type in the main KW the best result is at #70 with "mydomain.com/some-random-post" and all the way back at spot #500 is "mydomain.com"

How could this be since the some random post isnt optimized at all for that keyword, whereas the main page for this domain is a static page thats onsite SEO is optimized for this KW? Also since it bounces between 500-600 is it sandboxed?

Could be OOP. They really don't like it when you obviously optimize a page for a keyword, especially if you're doing something like linking back to the homepage with that keyword as anchor text.

Nop brother 500-600 dancing is not sandbox.You just did one month work..keep doing that and you will get better rank ;)
 
This happens to me when I over link a site. There's a slim change that it'll return, but most of the time it won't. Start submitting high quality links and don't do any xrummer/sb blasts. If you see no changes for couple weeks, then move the site and start over.

No this has been after 7 months of work.
 
Generally that comes from "over optimization penalty", especially if your homepage is so far back.

I've seen many circumstances where the homepages are ranked second/third over an internal page. That's usually because a post/page gets a bunch of links that the homepage has never received. Which is why its "ranked" higher than the internal page.

Although this doesn't seem to be the case in this situation. I'd recommend internal linking at this point and be sure to DIVERSIFY anchor text when you build links to the homepage in the future.

Ive never head of such a thing, everything I have read has said to make sure your onsite SEO is fully optimized for your KW. I use the SEOPressor plugin to help me optimize my pages. I also make sure my keyword density doesnt go over 3%.

Ive also done the same thing with other sites and they're ranking #1.

Just watched it, My sites don't fit into any of those categories he listed. The only thing I did was after each post I put a link back to the main url with my main KW as anchor text. Could that be hurting it?
 
Is it a Wordpress site? I see this a lot with Wordpress depending on what plugins are installed.

Yes it is. The only plugins I use are all in one SEO pack, google xml sitemap, yet another related post, and SEOPressor (which I deactivate when done using)
