Why do websites with crap backlink's rank #1?

for example, the site ranking #1 has about 300 backlinks which only consist of forum post/profile links and some blog comments, all low quality. where as i have a mixture of everything (web 2.0s, articles, social bookmarking, etc etc) yet im #20. i dont get it.................

maybe the reason is in other factors... the thing can be even in the quantity and quality of internal interlinked pages.

Because your on and off page SEO is Crap!.
If you cant beat that you need to go back to school.
Backlnks= SEO = fail.

There could easily be a 301 redirect to the site, the feedersite having tens of thousands of junklinks pointing to it. You wont find it unless you go through all of the backlinks.

Get a copy of IBP (internet business promoter), there was a cracked version here and check out your onpage SEO or get someone with exp to check it out for you.

i use seo powersuites website auditor to do my onpage seo, its fine. infact, the guy ranking #1 has like 50% for his onpage seo, and he doesnt even use H1. so yeah, thats cool. google is retarded

Because "crap links" works very well.
If they win to you perhaps has better internal SEo or is an older site, with more content or a best domain name.
