Why do some individual tweets do not appear in search results?

I have noticed this when I post on some of my accounts, some tweets will show up fine when searched for them, but some others won't appear unless you check the profile manually.

One of my guesses is that it has a bad word in it, but I have seen tweets with worse words on them, so I don't understand it very well, my account it's kinda young too.

Does somebody know if this is normal? Or maybe it's just caused because my account is too new for "bad" words yet?

Logically this is a great impact in terms of engagement so I'd like to know how can I avoid it, maybe swapping some characters could do the trick?

Twitter often hides repeat content. Vary your wording and use only one unique link per tweet to keep posts visible in search.

I mean, its mostly just a video, hashtags (1-3) and some text in it, unless by link you mean a video, but even with that, I always try to post a different video each time...

There is a lot happening behind the scenes, before search results are displayed on Twitter.

I am sure you must have read the "Twitter Files" thread. If not, I will link it below

Elon had once very famously said that Twitter was moving towards freedom of speech, NOT FREEDOM OF REACH!

You should also look at twitter's enforcement options - https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/enforcement-options

More specifically -

Limiting post visibility: Where appropriate, we will restrict the reach of posts that violate our policies and create a negative experience for other users by making the post less discoverable on X. This can include:

  • Excluding the post from search results, trends, and recommended notifications

Twitter is known to have a trust and safety score (not publicly detailed) based on signals like - Account age, Number of verified interactions, Phone/email verification and history of behavior (spammy, abusive, automation).

P.S - A lot of this may come as useless for you, as a regular X user. I have to often deep-dive into shit like this because of the scale at which certain things are run. Especially when it comes to automation/API

Yes, it's common. Twitter often shadow filters tweets from new/low-trust accounts — especially if they contain flagged keywords or look spammy.

Why It Happens:

Young accounts = low trust score
Flagged words, even mild ones, can trigger hidden tweets
Spam signals (repetition, links, rapid posting) reduce visibility

What You Can Do:

Age your account with real activity (likes, replies, retweets)
Avoid trigger words — try swapping letters (e.g., “sh!t” or “s.h.i.t”)
Use media or hashtags to help indexing
Don’t overpost — slow, organic activity builds trust

Once your account builds history, tweet visibility improves.

Well, my account might be cooked already, because this account has been labeled 1 time, and shadowbanned 2 times now.

I had read before about these Twitter files, but at that time I wasn't affected by anything about it since I was mostly a lurker.

Yep, I should have done this much before, it's just annoying to see newer accounts growing faster than me by posting about the same things, I genuinely would love to know what makes them different from me.

Yes, this can happen especially with newer accounts. Twitter sometimes limits the visibility of posts from young or low-trust accounts, particularly if certain keywords are used. Even if others post similar content without issue, older or higher-trust profiles may be treated differently by the algorithm.

It’s not just about specific words, but also how established your account is, how often you post, and the overall behavior pattern. Swapping characters or soft-masking words might help in some cases, but it's not a guaranteed fix.

To improve visibility, keep posting consistently, avoid triggering terms early on, and let the account age naturally while building real engagement. Over time, your posts are more likely to appear in search and suggested feeds.

It’s pretty common for brand-new or low-reputation Twitter accounts to have some of their Tweets “hidden” from search or hashtag feeds, especially if they:

  • Use words or links that Twitter’s algorithm flags as potential spam/abuse
  • Post the same or very similar text repeatedly
  • Haven’t built up any engagement history yet

What you can do

  • Warm up your account: spend the first week liking, replying and retweeting instead of blasting original Tweets.
  • Diversify your copy: avoid repeating the exact same phrasing or URLs—swap words, change hashtag order, shorten links with a reputable service.
  • Complete your profile: add a bio, avatar, header image and a few genuine Tweets. Accounts with zero engagement/history get extra scrutiny.
  • Engage organically: reply to niche conversations and use a couple of on-topic hashtags rather than blanket tagging.
  • Monitor shadowbans: use a free “Tweet visibility” checker to see which posts are excluded, then adjust your style.

Once you’ve built up a few weeks of natural activity and engagement, your Tweets should start showing up in search more reliably.

It's normal for new account try avoiding sensitive terms or use character swaps carefully.

I mean this account will be 2 months old in a few weeks, I tried replacing some words, and stuff, and even like that, the tweet is not visible.

I have more impressions when replying to tweets, hopefully i get cleared out as my account gets past 2 months of age, I have a decent amount of retweets and some normal tweets that have no issues to show up, but if i want to grow my account I have to get past that barrier.

New accounts get hit with X’s sensitive content filter, hiding tweets with “bad” words in searches :p Warm up your account with legit activity to boost visibility!

I have a good Twitter account and it shows good views.

If a tweet has a keyword flagged by AI, it is likely to be shadow filtered. Use abbreviations or symbols instead to reduce the risk

Tweet suppression like that is pretty normal, especially with what their system would consider "low-trust" accounts. Strictly speaking though, profanities don't have any fixed rule there. There are certain content filters and other factors that determine which tweets get suppressed from search or timelines though.
In particular, account age and activity history matters quite a lot. Some words, phrases, links and such also gets you shadowbanned.
You're gonna want to engage organically for some time before pushing further there. Mix tweets wit what's safe and what's necessary. Also, avoid using the same phrases or visible patterns across multiple accs, naturally.

That's great to know, lots of nice information there.

Once Twitter considers a me good account, do the hidden tweets stop being filtered and show normally?

Im thinking about posting something that will get obviously filtered every 2 weeks to see what Twitter thinks about me, but I wanna know if old filtered tweets show up normally so I don't have to try my luck so often.

Same story here. New accounts often get put “under the radar” — especially if there’s any swearing, even disguised. The algorithm sometimes just shadows your tweet, even if you didn’t write anything super bad. I noticed that replacing letters with symbols (like “sh*t” instead of “shit”) helps a bit, but it’s no guarantee.
Also, +1 to the idea of “growing” your account a bit — the more activity and trust it has, the less likely it is to get hidden like that

So, an update to this, my tweets with bad words aren't getting filtered anymore, but whenever I add an image (nsfw drawing) the tweet only appears on the featured tab when searched with "from:Id".

It doesn't appear on the recent tab though, which makes my content harder to discover.

Did someone come across this issue as well? It's kinda annoying not being able to post pictures

It means you just got shadowbanned, there is several checkers on internet to check if your acc got sb, just wait and it gonna be disappear some time.

I have checked, and I currently just have a search suggestion ban, but it doesn't explain why I cannot post adult videos, when other younger accounts don't have any issues with it.

I'm not sure if I should just stop posting for a while and let my account age for a little bit more.

May be if the post or video have adult keywords or adult hashtags x might reduce the visibility
