Why do some facebook pages use Bit.ly links

I saw some facebook pages using bit.ly links to redirect traffic to their site.
The only reason I can think is to track the traffic. Would there be any other reason?

Also, I saw other facebook pages only put a preview link in a post, while deleting the link from the text.
I think it's pretty straight forward reason why they do it. But my question is, why they don't use a bit.ly link as well.
And I also saw facebook pages, that are both using preview links but also bit.ly links.

I'm curious about the reasons why they do it, imo it might be down to personal preference, but I'm curious if there's something else behind it. So I'll appreciate any piece of advice. Cheers.

Also to prevent blocking your domain, if facebook detect it as spam, I had some quality websites that went viral in shorter time, FB did banned the URL as spam, so no one could click the link... it cutted my traffic completely. This is a save way to promote your website even if you spam and not block your entire domain.
 
It's for tracking purpose, and to give a good looking post in case you've got a long domain.
As for the preview, facebook will show the destination domain even if you use a link shortner.

Bitly links won't help if FB banned your domain, because they fetch graph data from the final destination url.

I didnt test this for perhaps 10 years now, mb they follow the link, thanks! What about 2 redirects with custom domain like bitly, domai1, money website?

The same thing, but I never played enough with different redirects type to give clear insights, for now, i just use subdomains : a.domain.com / b.domain.com ... etc

Cloaking + Shortener is necessary to avoid URL ban
 
It is to avoid getting your domain blocked by the spam system. Once my genuine site domain just get blocked because people were sharing the naked url.
 
They want to track which posts are bringing them visits to their site. It is an easy way to do it

i use to be part of 10 private FB groups with over 5 million users
and all those groups ran was urn shortners .
 
That's the shortened link. FB does not let you enter too long links. This will reduce interaction as well as less attractive ads. so people use shortening links to be more beautiful. This also helps the offending campaigns have a higher active rate
 
it's a shortened link, FB provides that
you can see it right there in Fb's ad manager
 
why do some people have a bit.ly link back to their site in AHREF's - how do you get this link, do you just create it using the service, but then have to share it on other websites, but the link is from bit.ly thats what i dont get
 
Sometimes just to shorten the link, it looks more concise.

yes but why do they show up in AHREFs as a domain and does that mean simply getting a bit.ly to your URL passes link juice?

Facebook bans direct link of website if yet find anything suspicious so some use 3rd party links to get traffic.
