More views gives you better rankings and much better ctr (people usually prefer the most watched videos).

Inflated subscriptions ,views, comments and engagement give a strong social credibility with average users who don't know how to check if these numbers are legit.

It's a peer recommendation strategy - "If so many people follow a guy who creates content on specific niche/topic this guy probably knows his stuff" . It has nothing to do with SEO magic.
