Hi,

I was going through some marketplace threads and noticed a few sellers selling .edu emails, and I've no idea what use these have...

I mean, OK, if you are a student you probably have some benefits that are exclusive to scholars only, but otherwise why would you want such an email? And they're not cheap either like the other emails, I saw them being sold for $10... ok, just to clarify, $10 IS cheap (even for me lol), but with regards to email addresses whose value I can't see they're not cheap...

So anyway, can someone please tell me what the main use of these emails is? I'm genuinely curious as I can't find a single use for them outside of colleges...

One use is that some softwares and other businesses will give free trials to students with edu email.

For example google ai pro gave a free year to students recently, amazon gave 50% off prime to students, canva pro was free with edu email for teachers, etc.

canva pro was free with edu email for teachers
oh, that's interesting...

Do you know of more tools / software / services (on the SEO / marketing side) that offer discounts to students? Because if there are, I think I'm buying edu email LOL

Also, do these offers work only with US based emails, or with any edu email? Because I saw someone selling Polish edu emails, but I'm not sure that these quality for offers...

Also, you said "teachers", does this mean that I need to get KYC'd to prove that I'm a teacher?

You can get a free Canva account with an edu mail, or at least could at some point. Not sure if they're still doing that but that alone is worth $15/mo.
I bet there are more cool freebies of the same sorts.

but that alone is worth $15/mo.
I'm personally not heavily into graphics, but no doubt it's a great deal

I'd like to know those :D .... but only the SEO / marketing related ones, otherwise I don't have much use for... I don't know... Udemy courses for example, or whatever else students use...

There are number of services that offer free or discounted accounts for people with .edu emails including Grammarly, Canva etc
yeah, I just found this out... Do you know SEO / marketing related services / tools that offer great discounts to edu emails?

Lot of benefits, just google Github student pack and you will see how many features there
I will, thanks! :)

EDIT: I just checked the github student pack and found this:
https://education.github.com/pack

Is this what you were referring to? Because this seems to be stuff for developers, which I have no use for...

Tip: search for "free student developer pack" I think github pro and ms azure may have them.

I used other country for some, just read terms closely on offers to be sure.

No kyc, it is no big deal and usually not tied to a program that earns income directly, so good luck bro!

and that's where the value comes from.
not for me... at least not yet, although I did find some uses for it :)

I did search for something like that minutes ago, but I only found tools for developers, which are of no use to me since I'm not a dev

got it!

cool! And thanks :)

I personally bought for like 3-4$ .edu email. There's tons of useful discounts can't name them all but some of them they require ID verification.

Basically .edu mails are kinda valuable cause they unlock student discounts on a ton of sites like adobe, amazon, Spotify, even some free softwares. some ppl also use them for cheaper subscriptions or trials. honestly if you’re not into that stuff, its useless, but for those who know the perks $10 can be worth it. personally I wouldn’t bother unless I really wanted those deals.

Not only developers, double check, don't be lazy
Namecheap, I remember that I got Free Domain name called Be.pro for free and sold it for 5300$

can't name them all
name a few ones that are related to SEO / online marketing / making money online

some of them they require ID verification.
s**t! May I get the name of some of these?

adobe, amazon, Spotify,
I've no interest in these, but thanks for naming them :)

yeah, that's what it looks like...

to be honest, the best use that I saw for them in this thread is Canva, so yeah, I think I'll pass them too for now.

But they do have more uses than I initially thought, so there is some value to these emails... I'll keep gathering info and maybe even hunt for some student-only (SEO / marketing-related) deals and if I find something I think it's worth spending $10 to get a 50% discount on some $99 product or stuff...

Are there not free services that offer the .edu email?

Example : https://edumail.icu
I've no idea, man! It's the 1st time I'm researching this topic. But thanks for the link :)

don't be lazy
now this is like urging spiders to fly, which... I think are doing it anyway (some of them), which is scary thought...

But anyway, laziness is my 2nd nature, so don't imply that being lazy is bad (because I'm already aware that it is :D )

This being said....

Namecheap,
yeah, I just scrolled a bit lower on the page and saw this offer, I'll make sure to check everything now that I know there is other stuff in there. Thanks again for the tip ;)

if GitHub's system doubt about the School or University email, they will forwarded you to Human check that will request attestation PDF.

make sure that you buy quality one

I got one for just a temp job at a university. It was needed as a login for their systems. Still works even though it was years ago.

some us edu emails from less well-known schools sell a lot cheaper. They’re obviously not good for buying paid services or getting student discounts on tech, but they’re solid for registering accounts, way more trusted than temp mail. For example, people doing trustpilot reviews sometimes use an edu email + hidemyacc to create review accounts. Lots of use cases.
