Why do people register on your wordpress blog?

Not sure - I have had shedloads of people register (I have the registration open for the forum etc) but in the month or so its been up there has not been a single comment or post from any of them. None of them have any links attached to them so I am a bit intrigued!

this is exactly I'm also curious. actually I have an autoblog that have lots of people registering so I'm a bit confused

Generally, people register in a wordpress blog for blog commenting if it is required for blog comment. In autoblog, they register for blog post and promote their link through it.

Maybe because they actually like the blog and have absolutely no spam intent whatsoever.

the reason is that the users or the viewers absolutely like the blog so they will try to register on that certain WordPress blog to create some blog comment if it is needed...
I get 75 to 150 people register a day on one of my blogs with no one making comments on that one. i have sent 2 different emails to over 6000 of them with tracking codes imbedded and was surprised to find that not one email was even opened. I can find no reason for the blind registration. some users register with the same info on my other blogs as well.
The OP is from 2011 but since you posted this today, those are malicious bots registering to your site in the hopes of hacking it. Depending on the level of authority you give to registered members, they can modify your current content and insert links among other hacking endeavors.

Some people are just genuine members of the blogging/blog reading community and are interested in what you have to say.
I have people who register on my blogs, and may send me an email about a post a few months later, and have no ulterior motive than the community aspect.

Am not sure you will find the answer to that question cos people online are so funny, some people even register because they just like the blog and want to be part of it, but the general idea is to make comments
