Why do people pay for Reddit ads?

Why do people pay for Reddit ads? Just create a subreddit, post some catchy stuff and your reach will be better than with ads.
What's the point of wasting money on their ads.

OK, I understand, they'll start limiting reach like FB to get more advertisers but for now... I see no need.

It could be worth it using accumulative leads, and trying to use those as an approach towards new ones, in a particular niche.
 
Benefits of paid ads in Reddit, are precise targeting (laser-focused niche targeting) and guaranteed visibility. Paid ads also provide immediate results which are in many ways measurable as well.

Reddit has bunch of users for specific niches some just feel more comfortable with it and FB is dead nowadays tbh
 
This really seems strange to me as well. It’s definitely viral advertising; achieving success by opening threads makes much more sense.

What makes you think that your statement is true? I won't believe until is see real data.

What part of my statement is not true???
I have two subreddits... in a very specific niche and get around 2k visitors a day to those subreddit but some posts get over 20k views a day.
So what data do you want to see?

Nono, didn't say it's not true.

I said I won't believe it until I see more independent data sets. Or to clarify, cost of running viral campaigns vs ads and we'll, why not both.

Good on you grabbing 2 subreddits btw, well done, that alone is a very smart move

I think I had 50k views max on a single post. Don't know how much reddit ads are so can't compare.
Just saying that it's so much cheaper to run a clean subreddit than the ads.

Ah yeah, those are good numbers , usually people don't mean running a sub when they say guerilla marketing
 
It could be used just for reach branding ads) Big brands could spend a lot of money just for reach, so they do not care about conversions and sales here and now
 
If you post on a subreddit it might get views but that’s where it stops.

Will it be the people you want seeing it exactly? Will it be guaranteed views? The answer is no to both of these questions if you do it yourself and it’s yes if you pay for ads.

And how are the ads different? They run in my subreddit but my posts are free and they have to pay.

Because they are not like ads on any random social media platform, to get the proper return from running an ad you must choose the perfect subreddit at proper and perfect time to show up your ad.
 
True, organic reach works for now, but ads can target specific audiences more precisely than just posting in a subreddit.

Actually, it's the other way around. My posts, my subredit, I have plenty of room to make my posts as targeted as I want.
With the ads there are restrictions such as the length of the post.

And you are right... I'm also very curious to hear from people who actually tried reddit ads.
 
Running a sub is a smart move. I think most people think it's too much hassle creating and maintaining a sub than paying for the ads.
