I decided to post it in the lounge so it's more friendly.

I don't understand why people buy:
1. Blog comments, they won't improve rankings.
2. PBN links for $1-$3 per link from the link farms which will do more harm than good.
3. Web2 and profile links... when you can create those for free within an hour or so.

So, my question is... Why do people pay money for those links? Those links will NOT help rankings.

They are misguided by promotions and offers.

I understand your point... but if I read this forum for one hour a day for a week, I'll know those links won't move the needle.
I guess, I feel kinda sorry when I see people buying those links and hoping for results.

There are billions of people who have not spent even 10 minutes on this forum or alike. For those who spend time here and still buy they go with such links because they cannot afford quality links.

Maybe it's useful for churn and burn or temporary projects? Or not even that?

some peoples are still believing on old SEO myths from 10+ years ago — “more backlinks = higher rankings.”

People buy them because they are cheap, easy, and promise quick results to those who don't understand SEO. They mistakenly believe any link is a good link and lack knowledge of how modern Google penalties work.
