why do many clickbank vendors not cloak aff id's?

Anyone knows why many vendors do not cloak the affiliate id's on their website? I imagine it would have positive effects to do so... like if the affiliate does cloak his links by redirect, and the ventor cloaks the id's, there is no telling that it's an affiliate link(unless they check the checkout page) and ppl do like to buy more when they don't know that someone is getting a commission. So I wonder why this is not widespread practice? It should be still possible to check if the affiliate link works by going to the checkout page...

Many honestly probably don't even think about it. Honestly, I'm betting that's part of it.

Does it make that much of a difference to cloak a clickbank page as I am selling to a typical internet browser and not someone who is savvy to internet marketing?

It's very blackhat but it's been done now for a long long time. Watch out for shady affiliate people

I don't believe this works any longer, though I could be mistaken. It's easier to just use a cloaked link in the first place.

Once a person comes through your affiliate link, the cookie is placed, and it doesn't matter if they remove it. You still get credit.

htaccess file...

Redirect /534023 http://yourdomain.com/somefile.php?tracking
Redirect /406636 http://yourdomain.com/somefile.php?tracking
etc..
etc..

on 'yourdomain.com' have a tracking script that redirects to your CB

I think I will tell my ventors to cloak the links on their end... Let's see how many will actually do that!
