You must immediately write to your bank/card issuer and oppose any further debits from them. Formally dispute the sums. Technically it is not fraud since you gave them your bank/card details, it is a dispute. Use the expression "disputed debits". Refer to dates, amounts and reference numbers. Explain that the merchant is unreachable and it is therefore impossible to get them to cancel/stop whatever it is you are paying.
Do it in writing. Now. Also phone them if possible.
Advice for future:
- always use a credit card not a debit card or bank account. It is easier to oppose, they usually have 24 hour lost/stolen tel numbers. you can always refuse to pay the bill.
- use one with an online statement and check it regularly
- make sure you understand the terms and conditions around disputes, and that they are favourable to the cardholder.
