Why Do I Keep Buying Random Things Online?

Hey Ben,
You're definitely not alone in this rabbit hole. The internet's like one big shiny mall with endless aisles, and it's all too easy to get sucked into impulse buying. Retailers know how to hit those psychological triggers to make us feel like we need that stuff right now. It can be tough to resist, especially with all those targeted ads that seem to read our minds. Maybe try setting some boundaries, like a budget or a "cooling-off" period before making a purchase. But trust me, we've all been there, and it can be a tough cycle to break. You're not the only one trying to navigate this maze.
Thanks, I appreciate that. That’s a great way to put it, a shiny mall with no exits :D setting boundaries and a cooling-off period really does help. Good reminder that this is something most of us deal with, not a personal failure.
Same here, paycheck comes I browse the internet few min later may whole paycheck is gone for some stuff i would never though i would buy
Haha, that’s painfully relatable :D paycheck lands and suddenly the internet starts calling your name. We’ve all had that “wait… how did this happen?” moment.
hhahaha online stores are built to trigger impulse decisions, so it’s easy to fall into that loop when you’re tired or bored. but i feel youuuu
Exactly :D they’re designed that way, so it’s not even a fair fight when you’re tired or bored. Glad I’m not the only one stuck in that loop sometimes.
I have the same thing. I do it just in case I need it, and there are 30-40 tabs, only a small portion of which are useful. It's like a Steam library—500 games, but I only launch 10. :D
Haha, exactly! So many tabs open “just in case,” but in reality, 90% of them are never touched. Classic digital clutter :D the Steam library comparison is perfect.

Ads and recommendations push you hard

Ads and recommendations push you hard
Absolutely. Ads and recommendations are relentless. They’re built to catch you at the weakest moment and make everything look necessary :)

Hi, i was waiting to provide solution on one of the ways to end such habit.

I suggest he takes extra steps to buy and resell these stuff instead of just buying every time this trigger to buy unwanted stuff.

engaging more time into selling stuff online will help reduce the desire to buy especially when he finds out how difficult it takes to sell.

Thanks

A shopping soul. Perhaps it helps you feel more relaxed.

Every time I open my browser, I end up with multiple tabs of items I don’t really need but suddenly feel like I must have. Does anyone else find themselves doing this, or is it just me? :)
You must be lonely and trying to cope it with buying random things

you might not know/feel it, but its the dopamine addiction from the search, the check out and when it arrives at your doorstep. brb, checking out something too right now lol

Mine happens when i work for a client and am been paid well, immediately the money hit my acc, i will start spending it until my acc is low.
